Where did it all go wrong?

Lol, not sure what you mean 🙂  When I left the UK for Thailand, I had to surrender my guns to the police.  I do miss horse-riding on Exmoor, but the current lack of property to rent over there is keeping me in Laos/Myanmar for the present.

I used to catch magpies using a Larsen trap (live female magpie in the trap to attract other magpies). Magpies kill song birds, so I had no remorse about killing them.  Mind you they would give me the evil eye as I twisted theiir heads round and round until their necks broke...

Please ...please tell me it's not true ....to do this to these poor babies 😭

I lived in the English countryside for many years, shooting a couple of pheasant every weekend, hanging them in my attic for a week and then skinning/degutting them.  The meat tasted great but it was the only time that I took up smoking a cigar as I disembowelled them 🙂

There was plenty of fox hunting with hounds in my neck of the woods, both in Buckinghamshire and on Exmoor.  Although I rode horses a lot as a kid, I never rode with the hounds, but I 100% understood the need to control the population of various animals, especially those who prey on others.

It's a pity that the same rule isn't applied to the human race.

Humans hunted long before they grew crops.

That rule would result in the decimation of lawyers and politicians. Quite a good idea, really

spank me instead Ralfy

I thought this would be about fox hunting, but it turns out its a rant against ecology management.

Local stables might want to promote fox hunting as a tourist opportunity, until the population is adequately managed by other means, but I don't think fox hunting is an effective way of controlling fox population.

Apparently English people are going to Australia to fox hunt these poor babies

I saw a beautiful black fox and just wanted to cuddle it

I don't know how you people that murder these beautiful creatures can sleep

Why aren't they made into pets ?

I would like to adopt and rang the RSPCA in Australia this morning, where I rudely fobbed off

I later found out the RSPCA are on the news for corruption in Australia

I hope all you guys sign the petitions to stop this cruel Barbarians

That's a great suggestion.  The way I would do it would be with a go-go bar with a stage round the outside of the room, and the girls would parade round the perimeter...

It would rank easily as the most ineffective control method - up to two dozen mounted horses and a dozen hounds chasing one fox, when one 0.22 magnum bullet or a poison bait will do the job for much less expense.

Off topic nonsense. There are no foxes in Thailand, post elsewhere.

The distribution of the Red fox can be summarised as being Holarctic, Oriental, Australasian, Northern Neotropical and African. In other words, these foxes are found throughout the UK and Europe east through Russia, Kazakstan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan into northern India, China and Thailand to Japan.

Australia had a problem with rabbits.

Foxes are their predator.

Australia kills rabbits , foxes and kangaroo's.

Wasn't it Australia that wanted all cats to be indoor ?

I don't think you really have a grasp on t problem in Australia - as predators of rabbits they had no significant effect - ferrets on the oter hand did. foxes are a non-native species in Ozand many native animals had not instinctive defenses against tem - so whilst having no effect on the introduced rabbits, they devastated many indigenous species as have cats.

I'm disgusted by the fact that Engish have taken their bloodlust to Australia but your attitudes to wildlife and ecology mixed with some weird "cuddling" self-entitlement does nothing to rectify the situation.

it seems that you are incapable of putting forward any argument your self?

From where I am (Thailand) there is not much I can do to help foxes.

However, my recently updated WILL contains several charities as beneficiaries to ensure any remaining monies are not wasted by the UK government as registered charities are exempt from taxation.

One of which is:

The Fox Project - Charity No. 1190070 - foxproject.org.uk

However banal you may consider the OP , it has started an interesting discussion .... you have not taken part in this apart from making irrelevent comments. You just seem to want to make negative comments regardless of what the topic may be.....something you don't understand.

I understand exactly about fox destruction, have shot many in my time.

His topics are still BS, seems like you're easily led.

Fortunately I don't copy and paste endless nonsense of Thais driving cars like they are on a boat.

again you are incapable of putting forward any argument - you're  incapable of understanding how uninformed you are - and  pretty bad at driving in Thailand too by the sounds of it. How is "copy and paste" an argument? It's just another pointless comment.

Still kicking ?

Regulating invasive species should be well controlled, monitored and done with care only by government bodies.

Hunting per se should be banned.

Sorry to those who grew up with it, no offense.
