Non-immigrant O marriage visa extension - financial requirements

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I am a non-immigrant O marriage visa holder based on a marriage with Thai wife in Nonthaburi. I used 400k seasoned funds for my first extension and for the second I used my monthly salary income.

I have a company with my wife where I am appointed as a director (the usual setup 51% share of my wife and 49% share of mine). Now, we are closing the company and my last salary will be at the end of September. My monthly salary was 90k THB.

The next extension I need to apply for is in January and I am aware that the best way is to keep 400k THB in a Thai bank for 2 months but I am wondering if there is a possibility of avoiding that by still using my monthly salary income from January 2025 until the end of September and then to withdraw 50k Thb from a trading platform (XTB - it is registered in Thailand) in October, November and December. By the way, I will continue transferring 50k Thb a month for the next two years to my Thai bank account and ideally based on this income, I will apply for the forth marriage visa extension next year, too (of course, if this is at all possible).

My question is if there is a way to combine my monthly salary income of 90K THB and 50k THB monthly withdrawals (in October, November and December) to satisfy the financial requirements for non-immigrant O visa extension?

My second question is related to my work permit cancellation which will happen at the end of September or early October this year. Does cancelling my WP have any implications on me staying in Thailand or I simply don't care because I am not on non-immigrant B but I am on a marriage visa so I am eligible to stay in the country until I satisfy their financial requirements?

Thank you in advance for reading my post and potentially answering my questions.

My post not assisting much however bump your thread as no replies.

I believe in "keep it simple"

I suggest you continue with the monthly transfers.

2 months prior to application have 400k in bank.

Effectively covering both methods.

Moving forward just use money in bank method.

After all the 400k can be used/withdrawn when extension approved.

The second point is correct. You are on extensions from a Non O so no issue there.

Nonthanburi can be hit and miss.

If handy to office you could run your options by them.

If you are closing the company then you won't have a work permit.  I believe you would have to show the money as being from your salary, and have proof that you are an active employee with work permit, in order to use that money.  At least that's how most immigration offices look at using monthly income for marriage (retirement is different).  They want to specifically see that it's from a work permit job inside of Thailand.

Thank you for responding.

Yeah, I will put in 400k and keep it there for 2 months.

First, I will receive the "under consideration" stamp and after one month the extension is granted.

However, I really wouldn't like to keep 400k in the bank for 3 instead of 2 months. When I used this method 2 years ago, they asked for the seasoned 400k proof and that was it.

I have Never read a report of someone returning for final stamp and then not given due to not having maintained the 400k during under consideration period.

I have read of the io requesting to see bank book and issuing a warning... " Next time etc.

Your safe.

Guys

To be absolutely sure

When extending 1 year non o based on marriage

3rd year extension is 2 months of 400k statements acceptable?

Thanks guys

2 months (60 days) of 400 thousand baht being in your Thai account is acceptable.

Thanks for replying Johng

I usually have 3 months of 400k

But this year I dipped below in the 3 months

And can only prove by statement 2 months and 1 week

Hope io will accept?

Most people would ask bank for 3 or even 6 month statement.

Yes would only need to show balance of 400k + for two months prior.

Your immigration office won't accept the bank book?

Don't understand your concern.

Even if you provided a 12 month bank statement immigration is only interested in the 2 months prior to application

Thanks for replying drjack

Yes going to io tomorrow for extending

Have 2 sets of 3 month statements

But as I stated within the 3 months only the last 2 months,1 week show a continuous 400k

I remember last year

You are told to produce 2 x set of 3 month statement but they don't actually use the statements as I came back home with the 2 sets

Hope they accept

Drjack54

Thanks again

Then that's great news !

The reason I am concerned is because

Some official information says 3 months and some official information says 2 months ?

That's why I am trying to find the real figure !

Also another issue!!

Anyone else you know of having this issue presented to me today !

So today I go to my Bangkok bank

To get the 3 months statements

+ Letter from bank as requested by io

Before receiving the info

The bank informed me 400k would be frozen from today for 4 months

New rule from July ?

4 months of 400k

So if I update book bank tomorrow as requested the balance will be 400k less

So I guess if io doesn't keep the 2 X sets of 3 month statements

The all important document is the letter from bank ?

I telephoned my actual branch in Bangkok and they confirmed this is new rule for every bank

And is absolutely locked for 4 months

Your thoughts

Yes, it's a new requirement for BBL customers.

Note it's BBL specific and other banks are not doing this.

My thoughts? ... If I typed what I thought I would be suspended.

Its deplorable requirement from BBL.

I don't even understand how they are allowed to do this.

Term "banana republic" Springs to mind.

Just leave funds in bank.

We have little choice.

What you do in future is your call.

 I would be changing banks

Agree drjack54

I telephoned BB

They said any bank now requires 4 months continuous 400/800k M/R

In there account before they will issue the confirmation letter from bank that io requiers for visa extension etc

Have a good day

They are lying.

It's an BBL thing.

Not such a big deal for those on retirement 800k as they need to maintain 800k for three months anyway.

Also many using money in bank retirement just leave the 800k all year round.

Different for extensions marriage.

Previously it was basically 2 month Only.

This nonsense can impact them if they require access to those funds.

I call it being extorted.
