Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, has been formally appointed as Thailand’s 32nd Prime Minister following a royal command endorsed on 7 September.

At 11.30, Arphat Sukkanant, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, arrived at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters on Phahonyothin Road, Chatuchak district, to deliver the royal command. He read the proclamation, issued by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, confirming Anutin’s appointment after parliament voted on 5 September to endorse him with a majority of the House.

The proclamation noted that the premiership of Paetongtarn Shinawatra had come to an end under constitutional provisions, clearing the way for Anutin’s election. By the authority of Section 158 of the Constitution, His Majesty appointed Anutin as Prime Minister, effective immediately.

House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha signed as the royal command’s recipient.

Speaking after the ceremony, Anutin described the appointment as “an immeasurable honour” for himself and his family, pledging loyalty to the King and commitment to the Thai people.

“I solemnly swear to fulfil my duties with honesty, integrity and dedication, worthy of the trust placed in me, for the happiness of the Thai people and the enduring prosperity of our nation,” he said.

The ceremony at Bhumjaithai headquarters was attended by Anutin’s family, party members and representatives of coalition partners who are expected to form the new government under his leadership.

Not yet, just wait for the party mood to fade.

Look at him, so young and full of hope.

I bet we're all still smelly though....

Why the smile on his face?

The thought of Government contracts for Sino-Thai?
