  • There is no porn made in Thailand....everyone knows that.

  • That’s a clever newbie question Brian   If you film prostitutes yes, or any thai citizen and get caught it is illegal. So better not be naughty and film your bar ladies while you doing them

  • Depends on the nature of the porn. Take us through the specific genres you downloaded.

Mainly Japanese straight sex.

Then you're totally fine.

Posession is only criminalised if it is specific types of especially sanctioned porn, like bestiliaty porn, child porn etc.

If you have straight sex, then as long as you dont' publish it, you committed no offence.

Lots of things are misinterpreted here. Better to not have it.

Well, Thai law is fairly clear.

"According to Section 287 of Thai Penal Code “Whoever (1) for the purpose of trade of trade or by trade, for public distribution or exhibition, makes, produces, possesses, brings or causes to be brought into the kingdom, sends or causes to be sent out of the kingdom, brings or causes to bring, or spreads by any means whatever, any document, drawing, print, painting, printed matter, picture, poster, symbol, photograph, cinematograph film, audio or video tape or any other thing which is obscene, (2) carries on trade, or takes part or participates in the trade concerning the aforesaid obscene material or thing, distributes or exhibits to the public, or hires out such material or thing; (3) in order to assist the circulation or trading of the aforesaid obscene material or thing, advertises or spreads the news by any means whatsoever that there is a person committing the act which is an offence according to this Section, or advertises or spreads the news that the aforesaid obscene material or thing may be obtained from any person or by any means, shall be punished with imprisonment not exceeding three years or fine not exceeding six thousand baht, or both.”"

So if you don't trade your porn, or make public exihibitions with it, then possession should not be a problem. Provided it is not child porn, bestiality porn, especially violent porn etc., Switzerland specifically prohibits golden shower porn but I am not aware of Thailand doing likewise.

See above.

The next question, who needs porn physically stored on their computer today?

I would be more worried about a lay over in any Gulf states, where they at least used to physically check your computers for such stuff

You don't have to download it, go to your favourite websites, watch, etc

Everybody. Well, if you like your porn in full movies, complete and of high quality, to a bespoke subject.

It's actually more dangerous to view online, as your ISP can track what you download. However, if you downloaded they can't obviously track you after you downloaded.

Downloading porn is actually criminalised in Thailand.

If they going to track everyone who downloaded or watched normal porn, they are going to get busy.

Most decent porn sites needs a vpn anyway,

They need a VPN because they are well known, and because Thailand criminalises the downloading of porn.

Whilst you are right that enforcement is totally lacking, and the risk of you being prosecuted for downloading porn is clos to zero at the moment, the Thai authorities have that power to do so at any time, because they criminalise downloading porn.

I swear to God, I had sites I used and then one day I found those sites are not accessible in Thailand without a VPN. Which makes me wonder if someone at the ISP decided to restrict access to those sites.

Of course if you want to be totally safe, always use a VPN. Then you're fine.

But really, there is no enforcement on porn possesseion or dowloading in Thailand at the moment, unless it's child porn, bestiality porn, exceptionally violent SM porn, etc, so in a way you almost have more freedom here than in the UK, US, or EU, simply because there is no enforcement.

If you keep it stored in a cloud, does that count?

Anyway, porn is not what it used to be, and I cant be bothered anymore about it it, it doesnt have an effect on me.

Working offshore on a Scottish crewed oilplatform where they had 24/7 porn channel so the crew would not spend their sleeping hours to wait for the blue channel to air after midnight, they taped the latest and made sure it was available for everyone at any time, you starts to get immune after a few years.

Good question. I actually have some stored in a cloud in New Zealand. I suppose technically the second you download from there you are caught by the downloading porn provisions.

It's actally far, far better than it ever used to be. In fact one could argue that the one area humanity has advanced more today than in any other is porn. Today you can download things that even the Marquis de Sade would be shocked by.

I do think you get immune to it after a while. Just as you need ever increasing shock value for it to work.

No porn hurts tourism and the economy. If you need to "relieve" you go and see lady (or ladyboy for many) in massage parlour and give money-money.

For some reason my mind drifted of to Japanese dressed as schoolgirls fat old blokes and never ending erections for some reason..what was the question?🤔

I guess porn addiction is as real as any other habits humans are disposed to,

Funnily enough in Thailand the Computer Crime Act, which bans the import of pornographic data onto a computer system carries severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 100,000 baht (approximately $2,800 USD).

So if you view porn in Thailand online you should do so in the knowledge that this could potentially land you in prison for five years and carries a 100,000 Baht maximum fine.

Unless you use a VPN your ISP has a log of the websites you've visited.

Again, they don't enforce this law here. But if they did, it, the penalties would be as above. I'd certainly not fancy 5 years in a Thai prison for watching Bonnie Blue get nailed by  1000 guys.

Posession is only criminalized if you have it with a view to trading it.
