A road crash in Kui Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, on 12 September 2025 left a seven-year-old girl dead and her mother seriously injured. The collision occurred on Phetkasem Road, inbound to Bangkok, near Wat Samrong in Sam Kratai Subdistrict. The girl’s father was seen grieving beside her body at the roadside.

Police from Sam Kratai station, led by Pol Lt Nontanan Singhanat, received the report at 11:45 and coordinated with local rescue teams, including the Luang Por Nai Kudi Foundation and highway police volunteers. At the scene, a grey-white Honda Wave motorcycle lay overturned in the median after hitting a concrete lighting post. The rider, 26-year-old Mrs Phon, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency responders discovered the body of seven-year-old Miss Wan, a primary school student in her PE uniform, nearby. According to initial reports, Mrs Phon had been taking her daughter to school when the crash occurred. Witnesses said a pickup truck descending from the overpass at speed collided with the motorcycle, killing the child instantly and severely injuring the mother.

The road section is under construction for a new overpass across Ban Samrong junction. Previously, locals used a filled-in median gap to cross, but this had recently been dug out. On the morning of the crash, a contractor had opened a new underpass route, but many locals were unaware and continued to cross at the former spot.

The pickup truck driver, an elderly man, remained in his vehicle in shock and did not respond to questions at the scene. Police took him to the station after he had calmed down for further questioning. Investigators are reviewing road layout and witness accounts as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Authorities warned that ongoing construction and unclear signage can create hazardous conditions for both drivers and pedestrians. The incident highlights the risks posed by sudden changes in road access during public works. Police have urged residents to follow official crossing routes until construction is complete.

No, it does not! The only things it shows, are that people are not looking enough when driving and almost always speeding.
