you can’t be serious. how can you find the app difficult. if you are blind and have stumps for hands, maybe.

just wait until they make you sign up for facial recognition, it is seriously flawed, look straight blink 3 times show teeth look left look right and if you get anything wrong you start again, I wear reading glasses which makes it extremly difficult to use and you cannot opt out, wouldn't be so bad if it just scanned your face once but this is a whole process of 6 scans in a particular order

  • The main difference that matters to me is that I can use Bualuang iBanking on any PC with a browser, but mobile banking only on one particular phone. I really don't like single points of failure.

  • The app is better anyway. I haven’t logged into iBanking in about 10 years.

  • Totally agree! Imagine you are out of town and loose your phone.  How do you transfer money around in order to let you buy a replacement phone. Cash/Credit cards/internet access are essentia

Krungsri only discontinues the private web solution, and they allow private customers to sign up for their business solution.

Its their Krungsri Bank app, its for everyone. I have it, the new app. Opened a bank account there a couple of months ago.

What they close, is their web solution. An app is something different.

At least two of the other big banks I have accounts with (SCB and Kasikorn) ditched web banking some time ago. It is more secure on your phone app with facial recognition (as others pointed out). But I agree with you about the (possibly serious) downside of having only one remote access to accounts. What if you lose your phone when you are traveling in another country? You can phone the call center I guess to make a transfer or pay a bill. But that's not really the solution.

Huh? K-Bank internet is still operational as of today as with the last 15+ years. Wouldn't touch SCB or BB with the proverbial pole.

No doubt K-Bank will eventually ditch internet/web browsing.🙃🙃

No, neither I or the poster I replied to were talking about the mobile app. Krungsri Bank today has three options for internet banking:

Web browser based for private people

Web browser based for businesses

Mobile app.

Krungsri Bank are closing the web based option for private people, but allowing us to sign up for the business solution. I used to have the mobile app and the browser based solution for private people. Now I have the app and the web browser based solution for businesses (which is now available for everyone but still called Krungsri Biz online).

They both work abroad. But if you lose the phone with the Thai bank app while being abroad, you might have a real problem.

In fact, I'm out of Thailand now, I've switched to a new phone, and I have to keep using the Thai banking apps on my old phone because there's no way to install them on my new phone until I get back to Thailand.

I did that a year ago, I’ve had no issues. It works every time.

I don’t know about which bank you have but I ported the Bangkok Bank to my new phone while abroad.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. It just sounded like they were closing their mobile app for private people as well, and that's not true. That's the future of every bank, fewer employees, and more use of apps.. AI is doing its thing.

I wouldn't take a chance as well.

While I've seen some success stories, I've also seen enough horror stories. If anything goes wrong with such a switch abroad, there's no way to fix it until you come back in Thailand. So continuing to use the old phone for the Thai banking apps is the only safe option, unfortunately.

You must lead an 'interesting' life if you suspect any of those things are likely to happen to you.  As for the beard..... replacing your phone's biometric of your face should take maybe a minute or two.

I never said I thought they were likely to happen.  But I have heard of them happening and they certainly are possible.

I moved the Bangkok Bank app to a new phone when i was in Australia, and i am not Australian. it wasn’t that hard.

Did same setting up Kbank app on a new phone in the UK. Just had to turn on data roaming with my Thai sim card (registered with Kbank) for a few minutes. No issues at all.

Cash/Credit cards/internet access are essential in that scenario!

Proper planning prevents poor performance.   What did we all do when planning to travel before we had smartphones?
