GULF Development Public Company Limited (GULF) has donated a defibrillator and wireless patient monitoring system worth over 2 million baht to Sapphasitthiprasong Military Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani. The equipment aims to enhance emergency care and support medical personnel working in border areas. This marks the hospital’s second mobile defibrillator, addressing previous shortages during critical incidents.

The donation is part of GULF’s ongoing social responsibility initiatives, including its 100-million-baht fund supporting families of soldiers who have died in the line of duty. The hospital previously had only one mobile defibrillator, insufficient for emergencies in border regions. The new system allows continuous patient monitoring and rapid response during medical crises, improving overall emergency preparedness.

The defibrillator supports both manual operation by doctors and automatic external defibrillation (AED), allowing medical teams to adapt treatment to patient needs. It can transmit vital signs such as ECG, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels to remote medical teams, enabling faster advice and treatment planning. It also integrates with automatic CPR devices, ensuring consistent chest compressions and increasing patient survival chances.

Sittamon Rattanawadee, GULF’s Assistant Executive Vice President, said the company has previously supported injured soldiers and is pleased to return with equipment that will improve medical personnel efficiency. “We hope this device will allow timely treatment and save more lives,” he stated.

Lt. Col. Saranyu Sarchai, an emergency medicine physician known as Sky Doctor, highlighted the device’s importance for emergency care. He noted it meets both medical and military standards and can be safely transported by helicopter, increasing the survival rate of injured patients. He thanked GULF for recognising the importance of supporting both soldiers and civilians.

The hospital is now better equipped to respond to emergencies in the border area, providing comprehensive emergency care. The addition of this defibrillator strengthens preparedness and ensures faster, more effective medical interventions in critical situations.

GULF seems to be making a lot of donations to various Thai military groups.  Why?  Patriotism?
