A 35-year-old man was shot dead by his 60-year-old uncle at the rear of a house in Ban Sai Ngam, Wang Yai subdistrict, Phetchabun, on the evening of 15 September 2025. The victim was sitting and on his phone when the uncle opened fire, striking him near the left ear. The assailant fled into a nearby sugarcane field before being apprehended the following morning.

Police from Wichian Buri Police Station received the report at around 21:00 and immediately went to the scene. The victim, Mr Wutthiphong, was found lying in a pool of blood outside the rear door with a single gunshot wound. No shell casing was recovered, but authorities believe a .38 calibre firearm was used.

Both men lived in neighbouring houses and had been in a dispute for about a month. The tension reportedly began when the victim allegedly used a hoe to damage the uncle’s motorcycle. On the night of the shooting, the uncle seized the opportunity to settle the score, resulting in the fatal attack.

Officers arrested the suspect, Mr Mongkol, at approximately 08:20 on 16 September in a sugarcane field near the scene. During questioning, he admitted to holding a grudge over the earlier incident and shooting his nephew. Police have taken him into custody at Wichian Buri Police Station to face legal proceedings.

Authorities continue to investigate the case to confirm the events leading up to the shooting and ensure no further risk to the community. The incident highlights the escalation of family disputes into violent confrontations and the prompt response of law enforcement. Mr Mongkol will be formally charged, when the investigation is completed.
