An Australian man survived after slashing his face with a knife and jumping from a hotel balcony in Chon Buri, sustaining serious injuries. The dramatic incident occurred at a seven-storey hotel on September 17 in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district. Police Lieutenant Sonthaya Khanthrap led a response team that quickly attended the scene, along with tourist police, rescue workers, and medics from Pattaya City Hospital.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered the 55-year-old man lying on the road in pain, dressed in a navy blue t-shirt and shorts. He had deep slashes on his left cheek, and his fall had significantly damaged a parked car. Rescue workers provided first aid before transporting him to the hospital where he remains under medical supervision in a serious but stable condition.

Investigators found a bloodstained knife in the man's sixth-floor hotel room, suggesting he had inflicted the wound himself before jumping. Police are treating the case as an attempted suicide and have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances. A witness reported that the man appeared distressed before the incident and had been staying alone in his room.

While no foul play is suspected, police continue to gather evidence and consider legal action. They have not disclosed the man's name as they are contacting the Australian Embassy for further assistance. This incident is part of a troubling pattern in Pattaya, a city popular with foreign tourists and retirees, which has seen similar cases in recent years.

Officials will maintain a close watch on the man's condition as he recovers in the hospital. Further investigations will determine the next steps in this unfolding situation.
