Drug Gang Abandons Crashed SUV with 450kg of Crystal Meth

An SUV carrying a vast quantity of crystal meth crashed into the central median in Udon Thani on the night of 20 September, leading police to uncover nearly 450 kilograms of narcotics worth hundreds of millions of baht. Residents were startled by the loud collision at Ban Lao Udom, Ban Dung district, before seeing the driver and two passengers flee the scene in another vehicle. Officers arriving shortly afterwards were shocked to find nine large sacks inside the car, containing 448 packages of methamphetamine crystals.

A 61-year-old construction worker allegedly fatally stabbed a 31-year-old nurse assistant in his vehicle in Phichit province on the night of 20 September 2025. The woman, identified as Ms. Pojana, died from multiple stab wounds to her chest, back and neck, while the suspect, Mr. Sombat, was critically injured after reportedly attempting to take his own life. The incident occurred on 21 September 2025 at 08:45 on a road leading out of Moo 1, Tha Talat subdistrict. A 26-year-old man was seriously injured after snatching the handbag of an 18-year-old woman and attempting to flee on a motorcycle before colliding with a pickup truck in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima, early on 21 September. Police said the suspect, identified as Mr. Wanchana, was unconscious at the scene and taken to Pak Chong Nana Hospital under custody for investigation. Officers searched eight locations in Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Maha Sarakham and Rayong, seizing cash, bank books, electronic devices and mobile phones. The arrests follow a wider investigation into a large-scale fraud and money laundering operation that caused losses of over 10 million baht.

Man Kills Nephew in Udon Thani Following Altercation

A 63-year-old man has been arrested after shooting his 38-year-old nephew in Udon Thani province, resulting in the victim’s death. The incident occurred on 20 September 2025 at 15:30 at a farm hut in Ban Nong Nong, Non Thong In subdistrict, Gu Kaew district. The man, identified as 43-year-old Zhou, was intercepted by Thai soldiers on patrol in Phob Phra district, Tak Province, on 21 September 2025. Exhausted from his crossing, he was escorted to Phob Phra Police Station for processing.

Operators of Bangkok's Red and Purple metro lines will end the 20-baht fare cap on October 1, reverting to standard fare rates. This policy shift aligns with the transition from a Pheu Thai to a Bhumjaithai-led government. Thailand will continue to keep its border with Cambodia closed as long as confrontational actions from Cambodian civilians persist, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced during a visit to Sa Kaeo province on September 21. This decision follows violent protests by Cambodian civilians on the Thai side, allegedly to assert territorial claims. Anutin emphasized that without a resolution to these pressures, negotiations are off the table, and the border will remain closed with possible intensified controls.
