Israel has been refrained in the past due to not wanting to upset other Western countries .

Israel may well annex the West bank now .

As if Netanyahu ever had any other intent, whatever the circumstances! 🙂

Not necessarily the whole West Bank, but all the wealthy parts.

Egypt didn’t stop supporting the Palestinian cause, they simply couldn’t afford more conflict with Israel.

Egypt and Jordon just want to live in peace .

They don't want the Palestinians to cause yet another regional war .

Israel won't because they know that if they agree to a two-state solution Iran will pour even more support into Hamas than currently, and Israel will struggle to survive. Great for Hamas and it's supporters world-wide, many of whom are from within the expatriate community in Thailand, apparently. but far from great for Israelis.

Lest we forget,  The British kept thousands of Israelis on ships parked of the coast of Jerusalem after WW2,because they did not know what to do with them, then they let then go ashore, and havoc has been the status que ever since, with the British commiting atrocities in Israel against Arabs. It is well documented if you can bother to look it up.

"The British kept thousands of Israelis Jews on ships parked off the coast of Jerusalem*  (There's no coast near Jerusalem)

Nonsense. Following the North Africa campaign my father served in Palestine during 1946/7. I am fully aware of what went on there. You say the British committed atrocities against the Arabs. That is a blatant lie.

B.S.

You are dishonestly and ridiculously distorting my post.

Just look at the zones currently under Israeli direct control, in particular the Jordan valley.

The UK's Foreign Office clarified that recognition is provisional and based on 1967 borders, with future negotiations to determine final terms.

Strikes me that the whole recognition thing is more like a political stunt than of substance.

Provisional, no plan to get an agreement on the borders or to end the conflict.  Without any of that there is no Palestinian state to recognize.

Congratulations to the newest recognised State of Palestine - may they live long and prosper. A land for a people for a people without a land and a day to be proud to British and pride in a flag flown high and proud.

How many years have the UN been a failure.

Since it began its full of failed knighted political ideots

Yes actually the first  1948 attempt by the UN  to negotiate a fair solution failed ....because Israel shot the UN appointed Swedish peace negotiator and killed him. I forget his name.

It was a big mistake by us to give the Jews Israel.

Give em an inch and they will take a mile.

They are famous for their greed.

Count Bernadotte whio helped numerous Jews fleeing the Nazis and murdered by terrorist zealots for his pains.

What are the wealthy parts? The parts already  in Israel's possession?

A day closer to Israel being turned into Palestine is always a good day. 🙂

You say you and you're as if Nick is Israeli or Jewish. It turns out that I know him well irl. He is no more a Jew, an Israeli or a Zionist than you are Santa Claus. A very, very sad troll with nothing in his life bar trolling the internet puts it mildly.

If I understood what you were trying to say I would try to reply but as it is I'm stumped.

BTW I asked Chat to analyze NC recent posts this is what they conluded.

This looks less like a committed Zionist position and more like trolling or contrarian posting: jumping into controversial threads, stirring arguments, sometimes siding with Israel, sometimes pointing out contradictions, sometimes baiting others with antisemitism talk.

👉 In short: you can’t confidently call him a Zionist from this. He seems more like an internet troll who mixes positions to keep fights going, rather than someone with a clear ideological commitment.

This is not rewarding Hamas quite the opposite in fact.

Hamas favourite saying is from the river to the sea  in other words no Israel they dont want Israel to exist in any form.

Recognising Palestine is a prelude to a two state solution meaning both an Israeli and Palestinian State both countries living side by side in peace.

It would appear the current Israeli administration doesn't want a two state solution or Palestine to exist.

There will never be a military solution it will only destroy peoples lives and bring generations of future terrorists against Israel and Jews perhaps even more ruthless and barbaric than Hamas.

Only a political solution that recognises the right of both peoples to exist can bring peace.

They well be under Israeli direct control, but not annexed, ex. the Jordan valley.

Well quite a complex and interwoven sequence of events in that region.  UN mandates, 1948 creation of Israel, muslim jew christian conflicts and disagreements going back centuries.  Hamas running things doesn't sound like a good government.

The King of the United Kingdom will welcome the Ambassador for Palestine to present his credentials. History is being made what joy it is to be alive today.

Hamas disagrees with you. It is gloating in the Arab language media, claiming this as a victory over Israel.

It will not be joyful for Charlie. Sometimes the King must put on a happy face with people he detests.

This is all being done to appease the left wing of the Labour party, so that  Starmer can fend off his overthrow.
