A Laotian man has died after being struck by equipment while riding in the back of a truck carrying pile-driving machinery in Sam Phran district, Nakhon Pathom. The incident occurred on 21 September 2025 at 08:45 on a road leading out of Moo 1, Tha Talat subdistrict. Emergency responders from the Pran Phithak Rescue Foundation discovered the man lying in the truck bed of a six-wheeled truck, carrying pile-driving equipment.

The victim was identified as Mr Khammuon, a Laotian national without a recorded surname, whose ID listed him at 411/489 Pracha Uthit Road, Huai Khwang, Bangkok. Rescue teams attempted CPR after removing him from the truck bed, but he was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries, including bleeding from the mouth and nose.

According to the truck driver, Mr Somphong Yodsida, 37, the vehicle had been transporting pile-driving equipment after collecting it near the Royal Police Cadet School in Sam Phran. The victim had been lying in the back of the truck rather than seated in the front. Witnesses reported that a heavy weight, part of the pile-driving equipment, shifted during transit and struck the victim on the head, causing his death.

Authorities have emphasised the dangers of riding unsecured in vehicle cargo areas and the importance of proper safety measures when transporting heavy construction equipment. The truck driver and employer have been contacted, and police are coordinating with the victim’s family regarding legal and procedural matters. Police will complete an official investigation, and any further legal actions will be determined based on findings from the hospital and statements from involved parties.
