Yeah, funny you should post about the "Deep State" just as I started watching this PBS documentary, which mentions that one of the reasons the anti-vax movement gained traction is the conspiracy / control aspect. People think they are being controlled and the vaccines are part of some conspiratorial oppression and want to take control back.

Complex issues involved in the anti-vax movement.

Haven't finished watching this yet. I might comment on it more ... and encourage you to watch ... and I'll try to watch the video you posted ...

Let's get this party started.

It's especially sad when the brightest among us fall victim to the sickness:

"V. A. Shiva Ayyadurai (born Vellayappa Ayyadurai Shiva[1] on December 2, 1963) is an Indian-American engineer, entrepreneur, and anti-vaccine activist. He has become known for promoting conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, and unfounded medical claims.[2] Ayyadurai holds four degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), including a PhD in biological engineering, and is a Fulbright grant recipient.

...

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ayyadurai became known for a social media COVID-19 disinformation campaign, spreading conspiracy theories about the cause of COVID-19, promoting unfounded COVID-19 treatments, and campaigning to fire Anthony Fauci for allegedly being a deep state actor. [emphasis added]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiva_Ayyadurai

"Ayyadurai baselessly ranted back in November 2020 that the election was stolen from Donald Trump. He also accused National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci last year of being a “deep state” operative, has baselessly promoted vitamin C as a treatment for COVID-19, and says he invented email. Ayyadurai is not a medical doctor."

I am almost positive that PBS will have a biased take on any "report"  they do.   However, i would watch it with an open mind.   60 minutes used to be very popular ( long ago, when real reporting and views was allowed ) .     Not so, anymore.   The deep state is the ultimate censor .     But there are hidden sources ..... shunned by most who are told that those sources are from quacks.

for a simple start ( not too crazy ..lol....)   try subscribing (free)  to Jeff Childers Coffee and Covid daily newsletter .   and read comments .

Measles can cause permanent brain damage !

https://historyofvaccines.org/blog/top-ten-anti-vaccine-myths-debunked-again

The Toxin Fallacy: Understanding Vaccine Ingredients
Fears about formaldehyde or aluminum in vaccines ignore dose context. A pear contains 13 times more formaldehyde than any vaccine, while breastfed infants consume about 100 times more milligrams of aluminum daily compared to 0.125 milligrams in vaccines. These ingredients in vaccines serve crucial roles – aluminum salts enhance immune response, while trace preservatives prevent bacterial contamination.

Gotta say I've always thought there was a big difference between eating something, and injecting it right into your bloodstream.

Would you grind up a steak and inject it in your arm?

This is excessive paranoia and the problem with it is you will not be able to analyze things objectively if you maintain that level of distrust.

Also, the inverse is sometimes true. Since many people have an inherent mistrust of government, then they automatically trust someone that has a narrative that goes against the government, not realizing that this person may be a charlatan.

I am still watching the PBS documentary. The anti-vax movement goes way back but seems to have resurfaced with the research of Andrew Wakefield who linked vaccines to autism, but it appears to be fraudulent research without basis.

Measles can cause permanent brain damage !

Measles Symptoms and Complications

  • Measles can be dangerous, especially for babies and young children.

....

  • Encephalitis. About 1 child out of every 1,000 who get measles will develop encephalitis (swelling of the brain). This can lead to convulsions and leave the child deaf or with intellectual disability.
  • Death. Nearly 1 to 3 of every 1,000 children who become infected with measles will die from respiratory and neurologic complications.

You see one of the doctors who worked 7 days a week developing a vaccine in the documentary.

Does he look like a monster to you? He looks like a genuine compassionate guy to me who was trying to do something positive.

Also, the link to autism is because children are usually diagnosed with autism around the same age vaccines are administered. Hence the blame on vaccines.

Let me ask you a question. Do you really believe if the government knew autism was caused by vaccines they wouldn't do something about it? Do you believe the governments want a population of autistic people? Do you not understand that this might actually cause serious problems for a country if too many people were autistic? For instance, if you need to go to war to defend your country, can autistic people participate in the military?

I think it's absurd to believe govts are deliberately allowing vaccines that cause autism if science actually proved it.

So now in the documentary RFK Jr. is accusing Bill Gates of pushing vaccines in Africa to "make a killing" ie it's a fake charity.

I suppose if you are so cynical that you think someone who is already the richest man in the world needs to go to Africa to "make a killing" pushing harmful vaccines and his intentions aren't philanthropic, maybe you have a couple of screws loose.

Wow.. that's such a powerful, accurate and funny video.

Should be mandatory viewing for you know who...

Kimmel really has a way with delivering a message, even though he's just a talk show host.

Thanks for sharing that!

PS - Worth noting, that video above is from 2015... Things are way way worse now, sadly.

This short video claims one of the big anti-vaxxers operates like a cult.

The anti vax leaders are making a lot of money ... profiting from making exaggerated false claims maybe and instilling fear in people.

I'm out of this discussion. This debate will go on for another 1000 years and I'm sure we haven't seen the last vax thread on AN.

My take is there is misinformation in here.

Could it be that "his efforts are focused on reducing child mortality and improving public health through increased vaccine access" rather than some nefarious plot?

Bill Gates is not the government and has no right to mandate vaccines. Nor does he.

He provides money to organizations in Africa for vaccinations, but they are not mandatory.

Anti-vaxxers are using the same tactics as cults do to attract followers on social media

Editor’s Note: Steven Hassan, PhD, is a licensed mental health professional and one of the leading experts on cults and undue influence in the world. A former member of the Moonie cult, Hassan left the group 45 years ago and has dedicated his life to helping people out of cults and destructive situations.

...

"Anti-vaccination groups are doing the same thing today. ...these groups use social media to bombard their targets with messages that sow doubt, fear and confusion about the Covid-19 vaccine. As a result, a significant portion of the US population is refusing to get vaccinated and putting themselves at risk of being hospitalized or dying from Covid-19.

Here are three specific ways anti-vaccination groups use deception to influence the public:

Withholding vital information

...

"Anti-vax influencers tout anecdotes of adverse reactions without mentioning how rare they are. These anecdotes are a form of phobia indoctrination. Anti-vaxxers withhold information about the vaccines, causing people to fear that by getting vaccinated, they would be putting themselves at a high risk of severe side effects. The reality is that instances of serious negative physical reactions to the vaccine are very rare."

Distorting information

Anti-vax groups distort information by misinterpreting data and casting doubt on the scientific process. ... Anti-vax campaigns to distort information remind me of the way fears were implanted in me when I was a Moonie. I was programmed to hate democracy and believe that it was Satanic. After deprogramming, I realized that the Moonies had used corrupt brainwashing tactics on me to support their anti-democratic political agenda.

Outright lying

Anti-vaccination social media campaigns spew outright lies to sow doubt and confusion about the vaccination process. ... When people are not properly informed, deciding whether or not to get vaccinated can be a scary decision. People are constantly exposed to lies about the vaccines online, including false claims that they alter DNA or lead to infertility. Of course, we know that billions of doses have been administered worldwide. That is a huge sample size, and the absence of any widespread serious side effects speaks to the vaccine’s safety."

I'm still not sure about the vaccine.   A good friend of mine got the vaccine and ended up dying anyway. He wasn't that old early 60's and in good health.

I got the covid vaccine at the time because the company I worked for forced us to get the shot or lose our jobs.

A few months after I received the vaccine I got covid (I thought the vaccine prevented covid so I was shocked) I was sick as a dog for a week.

My two brothers and my sister never got vaccinated.  My one brother caught covid and was sick for week but not as bad me.

My sister and other brother nothing ever happened to either of them and they both work in offices dealing with the public all day long.

So does the vaccine work? I'm not convinced.

For me it's not a real vaccine, my premises has always been a vaccine prevents the disease, this vaccine does not prevent covid

but supposedly decreases your chance of dying.

PS I've never gotten the yearly flu shots, I dont recall ever having the flu.  I very seldom get a cold maybe once every few years.

My mother when she was still alive followed her doctors direction and got the flu shot every year.  Seemed she got the flu every year.

Now with saying all that.  I do believe in some vaccinations such as polo (depending on which polo vaccine, some I believe aren't that good/safe)

mumps, etc.   Getting them all at one, I'm not sure about that, seems like allot for a baby to get hit with multiple vaccines at once,
