Most of the guys I know who use agents just don't like waiting in lines.  Some of them are very well heeled, but like to earn a little return on their 800K baht instead of keeping it in a 0.5% bank account that limits them to withdrawing 50K baht a day.

 

Of course, there are a few that just don't have the 400K or 800K, but they're nice guys anyway.

 

I got spoiled working for a BOI company that paid the agent fee.  All I did was show up on one day and sign some paper.  They brought the thick notebook full of documents.  I'm not sure I'd ever go back to DIY.

I use an Agent for the convenience (some might call it laziness). 

 

Total cost is 12,000 THB... 8000 THB for the extension (so an extra 6,100 THB on top of the 1,900 THB you have to pay) & 4,000 THB for the Multi Re-Entry permit (200 THB on top of the normal 3,800 THB you have to pay).

 

For me it's worth it, but others might choose to spend the 6,300 THB on other things, Up to Them...

- Arrived here without passing through an immigration check-point

- Who are given free food and benefits

- Who are abusing the healthcare system 

- Who are a burden to the Thai Taxi payer

 

Yes 'some' people are gaming the system by using agents to circumnavigate the 800,000 baht rule, or using Ed Visas - but none are a burden at all on the Thai systems - conversely they are contributing to it with their 'monetary spend' - they are not a burden on the Thai Welfare or Employment systems.... 

 

So... Jim - where is your balanced and care comparison - where exactly is this hypocrisy ?

 

 

I did bribe a Police officer once - my Car Tax was a month out of date, I gave him 100B and headed straight to the DLT to resolve the issue...     Just as bad as arriving on the shores in the UK on an overloaded boat of 50 male Syrians, right ?

I see it in plenty of threads - some people are simply so dumb accurate information, education and the ability to make informed choices and decisions is completely lost on them...

Don't know what you did to rile the Cyclist up, but I like the 'trafficking agent' as that's almost exactly as I  think.  Does make one wonder, if use of agents is so rampant here at IMM, what else is allowed for the right price.

 

As I read 100's of thousand are trafficked, (worldwide), ,meaning, there's got to be a lot of corruption for that to happen.

 

Don't know about Sexpat, as when single, I enjoy myself, but no different than when in USA, and that's non P4P, though I honestly don't find anything wrong with that, as long as voluntary.

I have plenty of money but I have used an agent for non-financial reasons.
