Girlfriend,wife

But what about you are retired living in Pattaya being single

How sad

Yesterday I had tears in my eyes and I visited a Thai lady in the flybird condominium who was doing the sewing on my hems

The flybird condo building is run down , no lights in the hallway, rubbish strewn etc stairways graffiti

I walked past a unit in the long dark hallway , the door was open,  a farang laying topless on his bed in the small  21sqm unit

I just stopped ,and I put my face to the wire grill screen door and peered in ,it was darkish the same as the unlit hallways ,all depressing looked like the old school hallways with that lino flooring ,all ripped and stained flooring

I could feel the rust of the steel wire door burn my nose and I tried to put my head further in to peer in

The heat just hit me from inside

He had a portable fan going but the room was hot

I believe they pay a very low monthly rent

he was an elderly chap ,no shirt on ,very skinny head bobbing up at me from his bed .

I could feel the heat burn  from inside the room against my face  which I had pressed against the wire screen door ...in flybird they all have wire screen doors , although he had a fan going inside

I looked around his small apartment and no balcony it looked depressed ,no window

He had that song playing " lemon tree " I forget how it went something lemon tree ,it was a sad song something lemon tree

I think it's a 2000's song ?

, I begin to feel sad , as I looked back at him , appeared to be very skinny ,he began to get off the bed slowly like it was an effort , a pair of black shorts on ,maybe in his 70's and sweating

He put one leg on the floor trying to roll over to get on his feet

I watched until he got onto both feet and started to hobble towards the door I was peering in.

I didn't want to talk so I quickly started to keep on walking down that depressing dark hallway of grilled

screen doors

I heard a door slam loudly I'm presuming it was him obviously a sad man

Today that song "lemon tree" has been playing in my head over and I'm sad to think life has come to this for elderly retirees in a hot small room with a fan in a rundown building I have shed a tear

Surely that's not living the dream ,

Decent of you to sweep up while you were there. Keeping your arm in for your return to work, fair play.

That was very rude of you.

Living the dream. A night out would be the 7-11 step if he's feeling flush with a can of Cheers if not then swigging from a half bottle of lao khao will probably work.

Absolute rubbish.  The vast majority of Pattaya expats are not living in Flybird type accommodations.  The vast majority are also not hanging out where you seem to spend your time while you are here.

You can see this guy and his friends, every evening, sat out front 7eleven, next to Flybird security booth

Upper class, still has the electricity connected

Some of the Thai's living there have no electricity, it's been cut off due to no payment.

Most of the chicks living in Flybird are cute, lots working agogo bars walking street.

Both, Flybird and Nirun is the end of the road for most foreigners living there.

Is it better to be broke and sane, or rich with extreme mental issues?

Also some people living in lavish condos at over 25K per month.

People afford whatever they can afford.

What is the point to all your threads exactly?

You seem like Bob and all his aliases, subtly degrading Thailand and Thai expats every chance you get.

I don't know what you're talking about.

Pattaya is the best place in the world for an old single guy to live.

I bet that broom photo bombing had a better hair day than you

You probably need to at least double that '25k per month' to get into 'lavish' territory in Pattaya.  We used to rent a small, not lavish, 35 sqm 1 bedroom at The Base for 25k a month.

it's all relative , i guess.

the 25K ones usually have a pool, gym, sauna, nice amenities, even though the apartment may not be "lavish".

some buildings have nothing and are run down.

Oh open your eyes and stop trying to sweep these poor expats  under the carpet

Have you listened to that song Lemon tree and actually shed a tear?

Help these people instead of pretending they don't exist

It took me about 4 seconds before I realized who the poster was ... how about you? 👎

Did you help the guy you were spying on?

Between you pushing a LB to the ground (assault) and you spying on a guy (peeping tom law) you really need to leave town before you get arrested. Or even better, go to soi 9 and beach rd to turn yourself in.

Then Go back to Australia, and stay there. Criminal mental patients shouldn't travel.

Probably greater probability having mental issues when broke

Yes, many projects are packed with amenities.  And, the bloke in the 27 sqm studio gets to use them all just like the guy in the penthouse.

The reason they have those grated doors is because it allows airflow through the room without having to pay for a/c and gives some privacy, not so much for security.

I never saw flybird, but it looks one step down from nirun. Maybe no pool, shops, etc.

I saw something similar to this when I stayed in VT 2B. No grates, but as I walked down the hallway I saw some guy through a half open door just sitting on the end of his bed staring into space, room was silent. It just felt strange, weird vibe. Like someone had been stuck there due to a bunch of problems and had no way out. There are many guys like that, running out of money and washing up in some third world hellhole.

That guy must have had an interesting life story. Most likely had some sort of broken family and resulting financial difficulty. Whatever it was, he was doing the best he could, maybe sending a message and warning to you about your future...
