A fire broke out early on 1 October 2025 at an electric motorbike shop in Samut Prakan province, destroying 20 vehicles. The incident occurred around 06.10 in a four-storey commercial building on Thepharak Road, kilometre 5, in Thepharak subdistrict, Mueang district. Fire crews from Thepharak Municipality deployed fire engines and were supported by Por Teck Tung Foundation volunteers.

The blaze started inside the closed shop located on the ground floor of the building, which also contained rental rooms on the upper levels. Initial responders used chemical extinguishers through the front shutters, before firefighters forced entry and tackled the flames. It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, but the shop and its stock of 20 electric motorbikes were completely destroyed.

Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke followed by flames before explosions were heard inside the shop. Local resident Mr Krissadakorn said he initially considered breaking open the shop’s door but failed. He added, “I don’t know if they were charging batteries inside. At first I tried to help but then I heard explosions and the fire got stronger, so I had to step back.”

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the blaze. Forensic investigators are inspecting the site to identify the origin of the fire and whether electrical equipment or battery charging may have been involved. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and the owner of the shop has not yet been reached. The incident highlights ongoing risks linked to electric vehicle battery storage and charging in commercial premises.
