Yes, Democrats have to pandering for votes with welfare programs since FDR.

Yes, Republicans want to kill the ACA and RINO McCaine reversed his position on it purely out of spite. It was a stain on his otherwise decent career.

Has healthcare become cheaper or better in the US since the Affordable Care Act?

I was working for a Fortune 200 company at the time, and my premiums shot up, and my coverage got worse.

The Post’s poll finds significantly more Americans blame President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans for the shutdown than Democrats, though many say they are not sure. People express moderate concern about the shutdown’s impact at this early stage, with “somewhat concerned” the most common answer. A large majority support Democrats’ call to extend federal health insurance subsidies in general, though just under half support the party demanding this if it extends the government shutdown.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2025/government-shutdown-trump-congress-poll/

71% say federal subsidies for the Affordable Care Act should be extended. If the Democrats are smart, they'll hold out for a week, to make as many Americans as possible know about how the Republicans are knifing health care. And then they'll vote to pass the budget extension.

Govt shutdowns are never good business practice for sure.  I a former govt worker always had to work anyway as being declared "essential" but while I might have complained, I never complained about having to work as I loved my job.  Anyway, the dems lost out for me when they went along with the Big Beautiful Bill in the first place.  They had the opportunity to fight then but backed out at the last and allowed that bill to be passed.  Anyone who believes that the US has a definite two-party system opposing each other is delusional IMHO as the SuperPACs determine who will be the candidates and they fill up the election and re-election campaign chests each cycle so that no matter who wins, the SuperPacs have the ear of which ever wins.  This is why we have such poor choices every election IMHO - it used to be that one would vote for the lesser of two evils but now they are both the evils IMHO so no matter who wins, the citizens seem to be the big losers IMHO anyway.

I had great healthcare, and yes the the company paid 80% and I paid 20%.

What, you've been on Medical your whole life and know nothing about how insurance works?

I never claimed McCain was a coward.

Where do you think illegal aliens are getting healthcare?

Hospitals cant turn them away.

To be precise, hospital ERs can't turn them away.  Which is why there are so many people with the sniffles clogging up the emergency rooms.  And those (ERs) are the most expensive and least efficient health care you can get for the sniffles.

But once in the ER, the hospitals have social workers that can get them signed up for Medical or whatnot. That's how they get reimbursed.

Not cheap at all.  They wanted us to recognize the value of the insurance we were receiving.  That doesn't happen when they give it away for free.  And if we had to pay 20%, we were less likely to bitch and moan for a more expensive policy than if we got it for nuthin'.  It's the same reason they had co-pays.  If it was covered 100%, employees would use it for trivial issues.

Complege B.S., of course! 🤣

I worked at a union (SMWIA) blue-sticker manufacturing plant in California in the late '90s. Our plan had a $5 copay, and as I remember, the premium was $15 every two weeks. About half the guys would not sign up for it, because they could get free care at the emergency room.

Of course, most all the old guys and people with families signed up.

The bill I linked to has provisions that eliminated the subsidies for illegal aliens.

That the left wants illegal aliens to have free healthcare is not new, nor is it a secret, they've said it all along.

It is only NOW they are claiming they don't.

It seems you are using confusion tactics! 😆

What is and is not in the Dem proposal is clearly explained in the Snopes article. here's the conclusion.

"The Democrats' proposal to fund the federal government did not suggest funding free health care for immigrants in the country illegally. If passed, it would have repealed a provision limiting Medicaid eligibility for immigrants with legal status, not for people in the country illegally. It also would have reversed Republican cuts to reimbursements for hospitals legally required to provide emergency care for people in the country illegally who would be eligible for Medicaid if not for their immigration status.

Republican talking points about Democrats' role in the shutdown also focused on state programs that provide health insurance to undocumented people, but those are not federally funded.

Furthermore, the Democrats' top priority, according to their leadership, is a permanent extension for tax credits that help millions of Americans afford health care. Immigrants in the country illegally are not eligible for this tax credit program."

Your post only confirms that the Democrats have voted against the continuing resolution to change existing legislation, which resulted in the shut-down.

Your post also confirms that the Democrats are attempting to provide "free" healthcare for non-citizens.

Finally, your post confirms that Democrats are attempting to compel taxpayers to fund free healthcare for illegal aliens.

What are you confused about?

Why are Democrats lying about this?

You support free healthcare for illegal aliens, yes?

1. "Your post also confirms that the Democrats are attempting to provide "free" healthcare for non-citizens."

Interesting, now you are not talking about illegal aliens any more but about non-citizen 😆. More precisely, it 's about non-citizen with a legal status (ex. refugees), excluding illegal aliens.

2. "Finally, your post confirms that Democrats are attempting to compel taxpayers to fund free healthcare for illegal aliens. "

It's about "emergency" healthcare, that hospitals are still compelled by law to provide for free.

The current laws compel hospital to provide emergency care to illegal immigrants. So the BB bill did not stop providing free emergency healtcare to illegal aliens, it stopped federal funding of hospitals for that.

So hospitals have to fund it by themselves.  Alternatively, States can fund it, but it would also mean that taxpayers fund it.

Your previous post confirms that the Democrats have voted against the continuing resolution to change existing legislation, which resulted in the shut-down, correct?

Non-citizens include, but is not limited to illegal aliens, which makes it better. Why should non-citizens get "free" healthcare paid for by citizens?

Again, you are only confirming that Democrats want taxpayers to pay for illegal alien healthcare care. I would rather the hospital eat it, or the state pick it up. Let sanctuary states support the people they are provicing sanctuary for.

Again, why are Democrats lying about this?

But Dems are not asking for funding illegal aliens, in this case.

You forgot "emergency" again! 😆

Then it depends which type of hospitals. If they are public or nonprofit hospitals, it will be de facto financed directly or indirectly by taxpayers, to a large extent. For-profit hospitals only serve around 20% of the market.

So illegal aliens will get free emergency healthcare in any case, the debate is just about how to fund it.

Trump even tried to educate the Dems, when he posted the (AI) video of that intergalactic alien invention of Med Beds. As that (AI) video noted that Trump has made it available to all Americans, even Blue States, he just had to post it and take credit, just as he's taken credit for ending everything from the 1994 Rwanda Genocide to the horrific war Between Cambodia and Armenia. He's also ended job growth, apparently so that Americans will have more free time.

Of course somebody within the inner circle of the White House didn't want to let the cat out of the bag (that Trump is batshoot crazy), so the (AI) video was removed.

Trump's healthcare has morphed from "in two weeks" to "Concept of a plan" to "concept of a delusional fantasy".

Yea yea yea, Trump was "just joking"......like ending the Rwandan Genocide, the war between Cambodia and Armenia, the was between Abebaijidan (sic) and Albania, the war between autism and Tylenol........

The real joke----on all of us---is that the demented old fool has the N-word codes and a drunkard SecDef.

I'll give you 2/10 on this rant.

In Calif any citizen can go to a county hospital without insurance. Working for a Co. that has health Ins. option is a common consideration for employment. The fact that you chose a different path is on you.

Yeah, he knows all about it. He came from a rich family and worked for the family business. One of the ways they saved money was not buying medical coverage and just using the county hospitals and let the taxpayers/suckers pick up the tab for him.

Now he has his non-citizen wife doing the same thing and he's terrified he might have to pay a bit for her medical.
