A violent stabbing occurred late on 1 October in central Phuket when the grandson of a prominent Phatthalung politician allegedly attacked the new partner of his former girlfriend. The victim, a 25-year-old man from Nakhon Si Thammarat, sustained life-threatening injuries after being stabbed multiple times inside a popular city bar. Police confirmed that the incident appeared to stem from jealousy.

The attack was reported at 23.15 to Police Lieutenant Colonel Udom Petchrat, who responded with Police Colonel Chatree Chukaew, Superintendent of Phuket City Police Station, and an investigative team. Officers arrived at the bar in Talad Yai, Muang District, to find the victim already transported to Bangkok Hospital Phuket. He had suffered stab wounds to the neck, chest and elbow.

CCTV footage reviewed by investigators showed the assailant approaching from behind before stabbing the victim three to four times with a short knife. The suspect then left the premises and abandoned a white BMW with red plates near Phunphol Night Plaza. The car was seized by police for further examination.

Interviews with the victim’s girlfriend revealed that the attacker, known as “Pu,” is her former partner and the grandson of a well-known Phatthalung politician. The pair had been in a relationship for four years but separated around three months ago. She had recently begun a new relationship with the victim one month earlier and stated that she did not know how the attacker tracked her to the venue.

An eyewitness reported seeing two men enter the bar just before 11:00 and one of them stab the victim repeatedly, leaving him bleeding heavily before walking out calmly. The victim’s friends rushed him to hospital, where he remains under critical care.

Police investigators gathered evidence and have issued an arrest warrant. They stated that the suspect is expected to surrender to authorities. The case has drawn local attention due to the suspect’s political family connections and the violent nature of the incident.
