The search for a 21-year-old Chinese tourist swept out to sea at Nai Han Beach in Rawai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket, remains ongoing. The man was carried away by strong waves in front of his girlfriend on October 1 and authorities have yet to locate him as of the evening of October 2.

Rescue teams have been deployed across several locations to widen the search area. Operations have focused on the waters around Yanui Beach-Koh Kaew and the Nai Han Beach-Ao Sen areas. Officials continue to coordinate efforts on both land and sea in a bid to locate the missing man.

The incident highlights the dangers of powerful waves at this time of year, particularly in areas with strong currents. Local authorities have warned beachgoers to exercise caution, especially as rough seas remain a persistent risk in Phuket during the rainy season. Warnings are often issued, but many tourists underestimate the conditions.

The search remains active, and officials have confirmed it will continue until further notice. Authorities have not provided a timeline for the operation, noting that conditions at sea can complicate progress. Updates are expected as search teams cover more ground along the coastline and offshore areas.

i wonder if the had put out the red flags to give warnings to people not to go into the water?

This will surely take a toll on Chinese tourism. Just adding another black mark as to why they should travel to another country rather than Thailand.

According to the pic from the op,there was a red flag, but people never learn until they nearly drown.

Sorry to say but why waste so much effort and take any risks to find a corpse?

And be assured the red flags are up and in multiple languages.

For Chinese it would need a mandatory instruction on arrival that the Indian ocean is not a village pond.

Could be several scenarios.

He drown.

Had a medical issue.

Something ate him.

He swam down beach to escape his gf and is hiding.

Hope they get to the truth.
