O-A visa police certificate

Featured Replies

I want to apply for the O-A visa, problem is I had a conviction for a minor assault fifty eight years ago and don't know how it would affect my visa application as a police certificate would probably state 'No Live Trace', which means although you have a conviction it is not shown in the certificate. The cost of health insurance and everything else would come to around 50+ k baht. I wouldn't want to lay out that money to then have my visa application refused.  Any advice or experience of this much appreciated.

Because with the O-A you don't need to show 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account and I asked if anyone had a similar position, so I could find out if anyone had got a police report and been refused the visa, rather than paying for something that might not get me the visa.

How long do you want to stay in Thailand.

A Non O eVisa also does not require the 800k in a Thai Bank.

If the money in Thai Bank is the concern you could obtain the Non O eVisa and then in Thailand use agent.

That would mean no ongoing insurance requirement.

Also with a Non O-A eventually you would need the 800k in a Thai Bank for extensions.

If so, there is no problem. Better just do as DrJack54 advice. Get the cert a week before your application, if you insist on an O-A visa.

This Non O-A Visa differs from an O Visa in so much it requires validated Health Insurance from an accredited nominated Supplier AND a Police check. Which differs  from a DBS Check in so much is will reveal not just a Live trace, to various indices but also to archive. So expect the conviction to be revealed. Drugs and violence convictions generally result in a failed application. However, yours is a long, long time ago. I suspect that you may be just interviewed at worse, or it may just be waved through. I wouldn’t be too unduly concerned. But whatever you do declare it.
