How to prevent gummy medications sticking together

Featured Replies

My gummy based medications stick together like one item. Any suggestions on how to stop them sticking together so solidly and/or how to easily separate them much appreciated, thanks.

I wonder... If they are not all stuck together when the bottle is fresh, consider adding 1/8 teaspoon of cornstarch to the bottle and giving it a shake, coating all the pills lightly. That keeps 'gummy worm' candy from sticking.  Would that work for you?

Thanks I'll give that a try.

Had another suggestion; remove the cap, but the bottle in the freezer for 10 minutes, take it out, tap the bottle on the bench and the gummies should all separate. Next step for ongoing storage: don't know.

? Do you keep this medication at home.

And you do the obvious, store it in the fridge?

General rule: no medication stored at temperatures higher than 25 C (77 F).

Gummy and gel capsules stick easy at warm temperatures.

That's a good idea. I only run into this problem if I've had to travel with the bottle in my bike's carrier box. The heat does them in! I'm very careful now when I pick up my delivery; coming home, no problem. On the way out... one large gel cap!
I have to try the fridge method next time it happens.
