In rural communities in particular, it is not uncommon for the grandmother, or even great grandmother to look after a young girls offspring.

 

It is a crude form of welfare. The young carry on working  (not necessarily bar work) and send money home.

Yes, and is a major reason why so many boys here are involved in criminal behavior and the women rarely see their kids, which leaves them home with a lot of incompetent caregivers, who repeat the process, many children without fathers.

Hi mum, I am marrying an impoverished hooker from a bar in South East Asia.

Of she doesn’t love me but it should work out a lot cheaper than paying bar fines everyday.

And her family have given me some land to build her a house on in the middle of nowhere.

Very true.....my wife's, so called father, ran off before she was even born.

 

Her life story, which I've only told once, it was to my own kids, had them all in tears.

My girlfriend's village is 100km from the city. The girls can't commute these distances everyday to get to and from work.

They must relocate, leaving their children with a family member.
