A road crash in Suphan Buri on October 6 left one man dead and nine others injured when a passenger van carrying 10 people to hospital crashed into a six-wheel truck making a sudden U-turn across its path. The impact caused the van driver, to lose control, strike the truck, overturn and sustain severe damage. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the cause of the collision.

 

The crash occurred at around 07:05 near the U-turn point in front of Wat Laothong, in Sanam Chai subdistrict, Mueang Suphan Buri district. Police investigator Pol Sub Lt Santiphong Khamchun and rescue teams arrived to find multiple injured passengers trapped inside the overturned van. Emergency responders provided first aid before transporting all victims to Chao Phraya Yommarat Hospital. One male passenger later died from his injuries.

 

Initial investigations revealed that the van, registered in Uthai Thani province, was en route to Thammasat Hospital, carrying six women and four men as passengers. As the vehicle approached the U-turn, a covered six-wheel truck reportedly made a sudden turn across the lane, leaving the van driver unable to brake in time. The van struck the side of the truck forcefully, causing it to flip over.

 

Police have detained the truck driver for questioning at Mueang Suphan Buri Police Station and will question the van driver after hospital treatment. Authorities are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras to confirm the sequence of events and determine whether negligence or traffic violations contributed to the crash. Further legal proceedings will follow pending the investigation results.
