How often do you feel bored?

There's no such thing as boredom, just people being boring unto themselves. An interesting person never gets bored. I have enough interests to see me out of this life.

I have to disagree

Creative people get bored, and that's why things get done and also new things get invented and created, be it technology, music, art and also in a mix with craziness and laziness

Happy people rarely manage to be productive or innovativ without one or more of the mentioned above

Yes, the assertion that creative people's tendency to get bored drives creation and invention is supported by research showing that boredom can be a catalyst for creativity by triggering mind-wandering and the search for new stimuli. This mind-wandering can lead to new ideas for art, music, technology, and more, even if the initial act of "doing" is sometimes fueled by seemingly mundane or even "lazy" activities.

But why inflict your boredom on us unsuspecting AN members, who want some intelligent banter?   How can you be bored when, since you joined our Forum in February, 9 months, you have posted 1

"My mind rebels at stagnation. Give me problems, give me work, give me the most abstruse cryptogram or the most intricate analysis, and I am in my own proper atmosphere" - Sherlock Holmes.

I think you have to distinguish between stagnation, not having things to do and boredom, a lack of interest in doing anything. Kids are a very real example of this; they have a thousand toys but they're supposedly "bored" with all of them. I concede that it's possible to feel bored but usually it's because of a lack of imagination in entertaining oneself.

True, and also stated above, there is people who manage to make soup on a needle, doing the same thing and follow the seasonal traditions and see light and happiness in their surroundings, while others drown themselves in a gray dark mind fog even in Paradise, and do very little change their daily habits.

Not especially, it's sometimes a source of useful information, though less so in recent years, it sometimes makes me laugh, but 7,516 posts in 21 years is an indication of my level of engagement. There's plenty in life to keep me occupied and engaged; the wife, kids, grandkids and friends, my work, travel, hobbies, books, music, movies, TV and of course the internet and forums.

Important to mention, most people have times where they question their existence and experience life crises that thank God is temporary for most. It is necessary to feel emptiness and being useless to find new directions

then boredom is not a question for you guys? You guys happy you got here, and just walking around makes you satisfied, and I admire those goys who just can be happy and do nothing or very little.

those who meet up at the same pub and same people every day, play dart, play pool, watch soccer, solve world problems and eat the same food, the same beer brands, and never get tired of the same routines, I do admire.

Do not say you are like this, but it is from observation travelling around and living the same place for months, and seeing these people is quite a unique study and theIr social genes keeps them together like a brotherhood even they cheering for different football teams and Irish, Australian and New Zealand rugby seems to be the glue for some.

I party agree with you, as I´ve seen this as well. However, it depends on what area you reside in. Also, even in those areas, the ones you talk about, are in minority and do not represent the greater part of the expat community. It just that they are more visible, while others keep a lower profile and engage in many other activities.

And no, your description does not represent me, as i have a lot of work every day, as well as I have a wife and 2 children to socialize with. Sure, I have friends and take some beers with them on occasion, and I like to relax in the evening with 2-3 cold beers after the sun went down. I also like to play dart and pool, but I have all that in our bar/restaurant that my wife run together with a medium sized convenience shop. I also work there at times, as our company employ enough people to allow that, and I´ve integrated my online business into the company as well. So, there are a lot going on every day.

My friends, all got something to do, and are not people sitting drinking day out day in. Like I said, partly agree, and I´ve seen them. A terrible sight, but I think that they are not representing the masses.

Oh so you speak for many now.

You're always on the keyboard how would you know, sat in your little room.

Come to Pattaya, open your eyes, you'll be surprised.

As you cut it out of context, yes I can speak for many, as we are many who moved to Thailand.

Also yes! I am many hours at my keyboard but that has to do with my work. This forum is just relaxing time.

I´ve been to Pattaya numerous of times. Even lived there for a while. You see the ones that are visible, and then you think they represent the masses. That´s just a delusion.

Being an expats and retired comes in many forms, and many of them are bored, no doubt, and for you as for me it helps to have something meaningful to do, and simple said, that’s the recipe for happy life in Thailand as everywhere else.
