Residents of Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, have been put on high alert following warnings from officials about the potential presence of crocodiles in floodwaters. The Nakhon Sawan Provincial Fisheries Office issued this warning due to ongoing severe flooding, particularly affecting Bueng Boraphet, the largest freshwater swamp in the country and a known crocodile habitat.

Heavy rainfall has caused extensive flooding and waterlogging in the region, which may have led to crocodiles escaping from Bueng Boraphet and other damaged enclosures. The local government emphasizes strict precautions, advising people to avoid natural water bodies and submerged areas. Sightings should be reported immediately to the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Fisheries Office at 056-803-547.

Bueng Boraphet, located in the Mueang district, houses a diverse range of species, including freshwater crocodiles. Due to the intensity of the floods, there is concern over wildlife displacement. Such occurrences are not unheard of during significant flooding events, prompting officials to maintain vigilance.

This situation arises as several provinces in central and northern Thailand continue to face severe flood conditions. Emergency services are prepared torespond, while authorities continue to broadcast safety updates. The Fisheries Office has also instituted patrols to monitor affected areas.

In a related incident, a two-meter crocodile was witnessed crossing a road in Rayong's Nikhom Phatthana district as floodwaters receded, causing alarm among residents. The area has been heavily impacted by persistent rain, leading to flash floods and affecting communities near the Makham Khu spillway.

Key Takeaways

  • Nakhon Sawan officials warn of crocodiles in floodwaters, urging caution.
  • Bueng Boraphet's wildlife may be displaced due to ongoing flooding.
  • Emergency services remain on alert as central Thailand faces severe floods.
