Nope. Can't beat egg and chips.

I have to say, whilst not exactly the epitome of "haute cuisine", I do like a pair of poached eggs with chips, served with a dab of "Rozzi" ketchup!

Thai food yes, away from the urban "street food" centres. I do draw the line at chicken feet and assorted bugs and maggots!

  • The three best cuisines in the world are Japanese, Thai and Italian. Italian is lots of carbs. I love Japanese, but given the variety Thai food wins... only just though.

Yes. B20 a piece in BKK. I remember buying same sweets years ago... bigger pieces for b5. This is sankaya and mohgaeng

Buoloi is ok price. Baitoey can be a bit pricey made correctly / the custard and kathit variety. The harder plain stuff is mid

I think what's happened at least in BKK is the people selling are mostly on the middle.  Many Thai sweets not easy to make and they just focus on production. Sell for b10 and then price jacked to 20-25b per piece.

I used to go to the famous sweet shop near Talat Phlu station/market, I wonder what they are charging now.

I give the cooked feet (except for a few) to the Laundry Lady. I want chicken with meat.

American kids throw away enough food to feed half the starving in the world, thats my pet peeve. Or maybe hearing when I was a kid "Finish that, children are starving in the world."

I daresay three chicken feet a day might keep one alive if there is nothing else.

Finishing a meal is still ingrained in me from my childhood........that and .........

Give my kid a bowl of chicken feet, some som tam and rice....she will be there for hours.

I get a kick out of the guys who say they like Isaan food, take away the foreigners money for buying good ingredients and only then do you get to see the real stuff.

Well I'm in the clear....hate the stuff.....brought up on bland, and by comparison, tasteless food.

SWMBO managed to get me up to five mild chillies in a plate of chilli con-carne.......but that hit the pain threshold......never again.

Sorry dude, that looks overcooked, bland and dry as old saw dust - it looks horrdenous.

And you think that is better than Thai food, wow.

Matter of nuance.
There are those who like spicy, very hot, and full-bodied food, and those who seek more subtle aromas.

Actually he didn't. The US adopted all the foods of immigrants from around the world. London sort of did the same and had nowhere to go but up.

Actually he did, he made the statement on social media not the US or the UK

Don't even mention the freshwater garbage that they ironically sell as seafood. About the only palatable thing is a decent red chicken curry. But give me Chinese, western or Indian food any day.

You don't eat as the same places I do. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Just look at the level of obesity now in this country. It's gotten pretty astounding and tells you that you shouldn't eat like the locals.

The levels of obesity have risen as Western Chains have appeared. McD, KFC, Pizza Company, Dunkin Donuts, etc. Add to that Pepsi, Coke et al, there's your reason for the rise in obesity.

You mean like chicken, pork, fish, basil, chili? It all costs the same, regardless of whose paying.

Sorry you are so butthurt about it but move on.

I like Thai food but I've come to the conclusion that i have to cook at home to avoid the rubbish ingredients they use, cheapest rice, reused cheapest oil, rare to see decent vegetables

Obviously....Lol. I tend to cook 95% of what I eat at home where I control the quality, taste, salt, sugar and fat content. The other 5% is at restaurants that prepare and serve proper healthy and nutritious food generally using key ingredients that don't originate in Thailand. You're right though you certainly do get what you pay for, and I think that's the  point of the Ops post.

I give the feet to the closest dog or cat. I prefer chicken breast meat, soup without blood and some peanuts thrown in along with sprouts and basil.

That's funny. A total contradiction to your original comment. 🤣🤣
