Phuket police are tracking down a foreign man and woman caught on CCTV setting off fireworks on Patong Beach, which exploded and injured a bystander late night, October 10. The reckless act, which occurred near the Bangla police booth in Kathu District, has drawn widespread online criticism after videos of the incident went viral.

According to Pol. Lt. Wisanu Chumee, deputy investigator at Patong Police Station, lifeguards on duty detained two foreign tourists shortly after the explosion, suspecting they were responsible for lighting the fireworks. However, after reviewing nearby CCTV footage, police found that the real culprits appeared to be a woman dressed in black and a man in white, both believed to be foreign nationals, who ignited the fireworks on the beach. Their appearance did not match the two detained suspects, who were subsequently released.

The injured tourist suffered only minor burns and told investigators they did not wish to pursue legal action, saying they wanted to rest and continue their holiday.

Authorities are now analysing the CCTV footage in detail to identify and locate the two individuals responsible. Police have warned that lighting fireworks on public beaches without permission is illegal and poses serious risks to both people and property.

Key Takeaways

• A man and woman, both believed to be foreigners, lit fireworks on Patong Beach, causing an explosion and injuries.

• Two suspects initially detained were later released after CCTV evidence showed different individuals.

• Police are continuing their investigation to find and prosecute those responsible.

I did not know it was illegal to light a firework in Thailand. AS i know it, they are sold openly and used at anytime.

SO my guess is that since the victim who got a slight burn from it does not wish to pursue any legal action. The police must be hunting them down to collect some tea money.

An added note. Someone can be hit or injured or robbed and the police do nothing because there is no police report filed by the victim. I have read this many times. Police blatantly say they can not make a case without a victim making a report. So how and why would the police go after foreigners for lighting a firework next to the sea?

Guns are also sold openly, and used anytime, still illegal.

So. can you tell us which shop I can go to buy a gun or which street corner has a stall selling guns? Or are you just spouting nonsense without any proof or accuracy?

Just that fireworks is used here as a means of celebration.

And guns are used to ultimately kill....
