i was shopping, in person, at Central Mall Surat, for an item costing 59,000 baht. I had 20k in cash so felt safe, using my debit card, which had a 50k daily limit. I put down 20k cash with the merchand and asked the senior staff/mgr to debit my account for 49k. Low and behold, it got rejected . 3 attempts and eventually, they were able to get a 20k debit accepted. after that, the error message was ''declined''. i had to spend over an hour at the branch,, at which point i got told ''it is bank policy''. after kicking up a fuss          ( I hate doing that in public), i got transferred to HO in Bangkok. eventually, they reentered all of my limits, with the max amounts allowed and said 'ok off you go'.

what the heck is going on?

yes, i have a stutter. 🙂  correction - i handed 10k cash to the clerk. the answer is on another thread. I am over 70. wtf, right?

Your daily limit may have been reduced to 30,000? Mine was. 

 

It can be upped to 50,000 with facial scan support, I think.

 

In the SCBeasy app go to Settings, Manage Personal Limit, check your Daily Transaction Limit (top of screen).

You can now expand the limits by doing a face scan.

The strange part of this story is how you visited the bank and that wasn't done.

They've probably reset your debit card spending limit to the new default, which is 20,000 baht per day. You should be able to get it increased by the bank, but who knows, there's an amazing level of incompetence. 

Why not QR scan  ?
