Thai restaurant bans Israelis. Israelis respond with boycott!!!

Featured Replies

This one is interesting.

This restaurant has banned Israelis due to them eating and refusing to pay.

The Israelis have responded by calling for Israelis to boycott the restaurant!!!

I guess they don’t understand that it is impossible to boycott a restaurant you are banned from?

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Israeli tourist “Itzik” said he arrived at the restaurant with friends after reading positive recommendations online, but was surprised at the entrance when a staff member pointed to a small sign that read “No entry for Israelis” before preventing him from sitting down.

The tourist posted the story on social media calling on Israelis to boycott the restaurant.

I assume the Thai owner of the restaurant will support the boycott.

The topic can be heated and contentious, however it is a subject within the public domain, and it is reported in English speaking Thai media.  It is a fact that some Thai establishments have banned Israelis, and that is a topic for discussion as most Westerners are loath to condone discrimination in any form.  So I'll let the topic roll.

Only 3/4 of Israelis are Jews....he might be trying to disguise his attempt to foment hatred of Arabs?

No, it is a completely seperate case.

Similar, but different place altogether.

It is hard to keep up so I will give you a pass this time.

Total bull.
What percentage of Israeli tourists and expats in Thailand do you reckon aren't Jews? Surely they exist but obviously a very small portion. Everyone know we are talking about Jews.

Personally, I would boycott any business with any such bigoted discrimination policy about anyone.

Decent people would do the same.

But when it comes to attitudes towards Jews, indecency is very common.

I am British.

If I post some news about Brits and appalling behavior in Thailand then I am accused of British bashing!

This is next level stuff though.

It is the Thais country, they are very tolerant of badly behaving tourists, but these signs indicate the Israelis have pushed them too far.

Liverpool Lou won't accept that argument....everyone knows!

Well we agree on that.
Most, if not all of the incidents the Thais are struggling with are most likely from Jews.

"the restaurant owner justified the decision by saying that an Israeli group had previously dined there and only two of them paid for their meals, and that since then he had decided to ban all Israelis from entering."

   Collective punishment ?

Lets hope this policy doesn't spread and all nationalities get banned from establishments if one of them misbehaves

I will be making sure I visit the place I am there next time.

Give the Thais support after the Israelis ate and refused to pay..

All foreigners in Thailand should strive to behave well in Thailand.

I agree Thailand is Thai's country.

I will also say there is zero chance that Thailand will ban entry to all Israelis as is obviously your hate filled pipe dream.

So you think all Israelis refuse to pay at restaurants? That is insane.

It is his business, times are tough.

The restaurant industry works on low profit margins, they need to be viligeng or end up being out of business.

He has decided he doesn’t want to serve them.

it is his right.

The article also states, which you conveniently left out, that they sit in there and use the facilities without ordering anything.

He isn’t running a charity with free food and facilities, it is a business.

They are famous for it in Thailand.

Same thing happened in Pai earlier in the year.

The Israelis finished eating and then decided to barter the price.

His business, and he decided the risk isn’t worth it.

His choice.

So what percentage?

So no other nationality has behaved badly in similar ways?

Probably eurotrash pretending to be Jewish.

It's amusing how all the antisemites are carful to say Israelis...

I agree with that if legal locally.

As I said I wouldn't give my business to blatant BIGOTS of any kind.

In my view, Jew haters will always find a new reason to hate Jews regardless.

I wonder if they decided to ban blacks or gays how all the antisemites would feel...

None so blind as a Jew who cannot see.....although this is not antisemitism, just anti-Israelis.

Would be better if the restaurant   had a policy of people sitting in the restaurant having to buy food and the staff should  keep an eye out for people not paying and doing runners .

That would be better management .
