A 59-year-old man was shot dead by his son-in-law after a gunfight broke out at their family home in Nakhon Pathom late on 13 October. Police said the father-in-law, heavily intoxicated, had kicked his daughter’s bedroom door and shouted for her to “say goodbye to her husband” before opening fire. The son-in-law, who was eating noodles outside the house, narrowly dodged the shots and returned fire, killing the older man.

Police from Don Tum Station, led by Pol Lt Col Prathueang Saengarom and Pol Col Yonglit Suppaphon, arrived at the single-storey house in Moo 1, Huai Duan Subdistrict, Don Tum District, following reports of gunfire. At the scene, they found the body of Mr. Doklao, 59, a grilled chicken vendor, lying in a pool of blood. A short-barrelled shotgun lay nearby. His son-in-law, Mr. Narathip 29, stood waiting at the scene with a 9mm pistol used in the incident.

Village headwoman Wilai Porn Ariyawong, 56, told officers that the deceased had been drinking heavily before storming into his daughter’s room and shouting at her to come outside to bid farewell to her husband. He then aimed his shotgun at Narathip and fired twice, missing both times. The younger man responded by drawing his own weapon and firing three shots, hitting his father-in-law, who fell and died instantly.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between the two men, worsened by alcohol intoxication. The son-in-law was taken into custody for questioning at Don Tum Police Station as investigators work to determine the full circumstances behind the deadly confrontation. The weapons were seized as evidence and for forensic officers to conduct ballistic tests.

Lesson - don't be a "drunk father in law" in Thailand.....................really ?

It´s really The Wild Wild West, where everyone just pulls out a weapon. OK Pathom!
