Deng Chol Majek, a Sudanese asylum seeker, is on trial for allegedly murdering British woman Rhiannon Whyte on a deserted train platform. The court heard that Majek followed the 27-year-old from the Park Inn Hotel in Walsall, where she worked, and attacked her with a screwdriver at Bescott station, stabbing her 23 times last October. The assault occurred as Whyte was on the phone with a friend, who heard her screams before the call abruptly ended.

Prosecutor Michelle Heeley KC described Majek's actions as a "frenzied attack," noting he casually returned to his hotel after the incident. CCTV footage showed Majek at the scene, later discarding Whyte's phone into a river and purchasing a drink before returning to the hotel with a bag believed to contain alcohol. He was reportedly seen dancing and laughing upon his return.

Majek, who denies the charges of murder and possessing a weapon, was described as stalking Whyte, closing the distance between them at the station before the attack. Despite the defense claiming misidentification, evidence includes CCTV footage and DNA matching Whyte’s under Majek’s nails, along with her blood on his clothes.

Majek's actions and the brutality of the attack have raised questions about the policies surrounding asylum seekers residing in temporary accommodations. The court learned that Whyte had worked at the hotel for months, aiding in various roles, while Majek was a resident. Despite his claims of being 18 at the time, doubts about his age persist. The trial continues as the prosecution asserts that the evidence points clearly to Majek’s guilt.

Key Takeaways

  • Deng Chol Majek is accused of murdering Rhiannon Whyte in a brutal attack.
  • Evidence includes CCTV footage and DNA linking Majek to the crime.
  • The case raises questions about asylum seeker management and security.

The old open borders and diversity are our strengths false narratives seems to be on the way out as fast as the BLM scam. Good.
