A jealous ex-husband who murdered his former wife’s new partner in Phuket has been arrested less than 24 hours after the fatal assault. The victim, a 59-year-old retired civil servant, died after being beaten unconscious in his apartment in Wichit, Mueang District, on the evening of October 14. Police confirmed that the suspect, identified as Mr. Praphan, was apprehended the following day near Phuket City Police Station.

Police were called to the scene around 18.30 after reports of a violent altercation. Investigating officers from Wichit Police Station found that Mr. Praphan had entered the apartment of his ex-wife, Ms. Pornphat and attacked both her and her new partner, Mr. Worapong. The suspect allegedly attempted to strangle Ms. Pornphat and then assaulted Mr. Worapong until he lost consciousness before fleeing on a motorcycle believed to have been taken using a spare key belonging to his ex-wife.

Emergency responders from Wichit Municipality arrived quickly and transported Mr. Worapong to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after. Witnesses reported hearing shouting and fighting shortly before police arrived. One neighbour said he initially assumed it was a domestic dispute and did not expect the situation to turn deadly, while another described the deceased as polite and recently moved into the building.

Ms. Pornphat told police that her ex-husband had been stalking her and had followed her to the apartment on the day of the incident. She said the attack began after she confronted him, prompting her partner to intervene. The altercation escalated, resulting in fatal injuries to Mr. Worapong.

On October 15, Wichit Police, led by Pol Col Somsak Thongklieng and an investigative team, located and arrested Mr. Praphan at a bus shelter near Phuket City Police Station on Yaowarat Road in Talat Yai Subdistrict. He was taken into custody for questioning and will face charges. Police are continuing to gather evidence and are expected to submit the case for prosecution once the investigation is complete.

What? How small and tiny must the victim be? Looking at the image of the killer, his body structure indicates he have a hard time beating a fly to death.
