Cyber police in Nakhon Sawan have arrested a 33-year-old man running an illegal high-interest loan operation with a reported monthly turnover exceeding 1 million baht. The suspect, Mr. Chinawat, admitted he previously worked as a debt collector and turned to running his own business after seeing the profits.

The arrest took place on 16 October 2025 following a court-authorised search of his home in Moo 4, Nakhon Sawan Subdistrict, Mueang District. Police seized a customer ledger and business cards promoting his loan services.

Investigators discovered the suspect advertising loans on Facebook, offering amounts between 1,000 and 100,000 baht with interest rates of 20% per 24 days, exceeding the legal limit. For example, a 10,000 baht loan would require repayment of 12,000 baht over 24 days. Clients were mainly small traders and locals needing urgent funds.

The loan operation involved collecting detailed personal information, including ID cards and photos of borrowers’ homes, to ensure addresses matched official records and reduce the risk of evasion. Police compiled evidence before obtaining the search warrant and executing the arrest.

Mr. Chinawat confessed to operating the business for over a year, acknowledging the excessive interest rates. He stated that he had previously been a team member collecting debts, which provided good earnings and quick income, and had acquired the know-how to run his own scheme.

Authorities have charged him with issuing loans at illegal interest rates and conducting a personal loan business without permission. He remains in police custody pending prosecution.
