Single guys retirement

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I am thinking in all probability that the isaan area would be the lowest statistics for retirement for single guys ?

Am I correct ?

The majority would be retiring there to be with a wife/GF ...oh please can we be non gender bias and say partner so we don't discriminate against same sex couples thankyou !.

I did consider the isaan region such as Udon Thani to retire but I'm not sure if a single guy can retire say to Khon khaen etc

Would it be a different lifestyle from say Pattaya

You've been hanging around too many Wokes and lefties living in Australia.    Normal gay people don't care about those silly things.

Don't go then. Leave the peace, tranquility, great food and generally happy way of life to us that do see the appeal.

Just don't stay to long as the Thai tax chaps will start to racket. Make the stay less then 180 days and mainly never buy, only rent. Thus if things get worse, you can pack and leave.

I would rate Udon 4

Khon Khaen 4

Chiang Mai 6

Korat 7

Khanchanaburi 8

Hua Hin 9 and Pattaya 7 in comparison

Krabi 7,5

Koh Phangan 9

And Ban Chang because of its location and distance from nice Islands, Pattaya, Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi.

Single life in Thailand? Single in Isaan? That's a life for special interested!

Isaan is nice or can be nice as couple, but as everywhere else it comes down to you and your partner and maybe even more your family

Korat is very sleepy.

Many nice places to retire. I enjoyed time in Sangkhla Buri, a District in Kanchanaburi. Great if you want to do nothing.  But it is a 7 because there is literally nothing to do, unless you love photography, which I do.

We spent quite a few times there, and for future with the new highway, train station, it will be a nice place for become older, and still not to far out. Some few decent restaurants and recreational areas there as well affordable for now. A good investment for the moment.

Boring or not, it is what you make it. Been sup padling on the rivers in the area, nice place for motorbike, and not far from Bangkok with the new highway, as well Hua Hin and going south.

But very polluted during burning season, but not sure how it was last year in comparison

Going North from Khanchanaburi is just a dream with beautiful roads and scenery, same as going south through the highland and  Suan Phueng on the border to Myanmar.

Bangkok is suitable for the retired Professor University lecturer type

They are close to theatrs ,cafes etc

You can retire anywhere you like. If you like the beach move close to the ocean, if you like big city move to Bangkok, if you like mountains move to Chiang mai, if you like farm country move to Isaan. Go wherever you feel comfortable, scout around yourself.

Just keep your word and stay away from Pattaya, 555

How many personalities reside in your head?

You often seen to be conversing with another person in the course of one paragraph.

You are dreaming. You will never leave Sydney for any length of time.

Likely to be the new capital city as the administrative functions move out of Bangkok.

Great investment potential for a Thai wife.

Counts you out.

George, will you finally come out of the closet and find a companion?  You don't have to tell the people back home, just be out of the closet in Thailand.  You'd be less woke and uptight if you weren't lonely and struggling with your sexuality, just don't go full Village People and activist.

True the persuading is there to live with the GF in her village

But...it doesn't suit everyone

Depending how you invest, and how you secure your investment. Everything isn’t lost if you are married, but still there is a chance for being screwed over. Non of us can predict the future, but there comes with some common sense and rules.

If you like Pattaya you should like BKK.

I know you post a lot but your asking for specifics when not providing enough background or details.

Retirees I know live in Pattaya, and only occasionally visit the entertainment areas.

I advise listing your requirements, what you prefer, and then major dislikes.

Healthcare

Sports

Social outlets

Transportation

Frequency of distant travel or International travel.

Companionship

Fluency in Language or effective communication

Budget

Are all core factors in helping educate the audience so they may assist you.

Almost anywhere is good if there is a good travel alternatives.  I retired in Chiang Rai.  There are a number of things to do here.  I’m close to the mountains and it is relatively uncrowded.  If I get bored here, which happens, it’s only a 3 hour drive to Chiang Mai or only a little over a 1 hour flight to Bangkok at a cost of about 3000 baht for a return ticket.

If you're single, then the only real difference between living in one place, and travelling, is the cost of accommodation.  And accommodation is cheap.  Most cities will have decent hotels for maybe 600-800 baht a night, so only maybe 22k baht per month to cover your accommodation.

So I'd recommend travelling all around Thailand, visit the main city in each province for maybe a week.  Pop into the "Farang hangout" in each city and meet some people, get some advice on what to see and do, then go sight seeing for a week before you travel to the next province.

If you were able to buy your own car, or even motorcycle, then this would become even easier.

By doing things this way, you'll have an amazing experience and then can come back to the places you liked the most to settle down.  Also it ensures that if you do meet a few girls along the way (Or guys, if you're that way inclined), you have a good excuse to leave and do other things, and compare whom you like best, then you can come back later if you want (Or even just take them with you if you're particularly attached).

I would avoid Hua Hin. Far to expensive and cheating and overcharging all over and mainly to cater the 60+ retiree crowds from the west and it's all sleepy after 11 pm. Not to mention the beaches that are far from the best. Even the Pattaya area has fare better beaches.
