Japanese Tourists Accused of Harassing Pattaya Hairdresser

A Pattaya hairdresser has vowed to file a police complaint against a group of four Japanese tourists accused of sexually harassing her while she was cutting one of their hair. The incident, which occurred on 19 October 2025, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral, drawing widespread condemnation online. Authorities will be asked to take legal action over what the victim described as a humiliating and disrespectful experience.

According to the footage, Ms. Kanokkan, 34, owner of a popular hair salon on Pattaya Beach Road, was cutting a Japanese customer’s hair when three of his friends began behaving inappropriately. The men, appearing intoxicated, clinked beer bottles, pointed toward her skirt, and laughed while making mocking remarks in Japanese. Moments later, two of them allegedly reached toward her skirt, attempting to lift it in full view of others in the shop.

Ms. Kanokkan said she was shocked but tried to remain composed to finish her work professionally. “I was angry and embarrassed, but I tried to stay calm until the haircut was done,” she explained. After confronting the group, she told them their actions disrespected Thai women and were unacceptable. One of the men offered a brief apology, but none appeared remorseful. They paid 350 baht for the haircut and left the shop as if nothing had happened.

The harassment reportedly also aimed at a ladyboy customer entered, who entered the salon during the incident. The Japanese men allegedly mocked the individual’s gender identity, further upsetting the shop owner. CCTV cameras recorded the entire episode, and Ms. Kanokkan has confirmed her intention to submit the video evidence and witness statements to Bang Lamung police.

She added that in her years of running the business, she had never encountered such behaviour from tourists. “I don’t want this to happen to any other Thai woman again,” she said, urging authorities to take strict action to prevent similar incidents in Pattaya’s busy tourist areas. Police have confirmed they are aware of the incident and will review the evidence when submitted, before deciding on formal charges.

I dunno what they teach Japanese men about self-preservation, but generally speaking it's not a good idea to annoy a woman when she has a pair of scissors in her hands. :coffee1:

Some men think all the women are sex workers and fair game, Japanese should know better

Yes, my thought was 'not the Japanese too'......!

There is a reason Japan has women over train cars.

Well, at least with the police report she can get those pesky Japs to pay her a lot more for her uhh, discomfort and embarrassment og having it in the news. She works in a city where women sell themselves day and night. What does she expect? Does she think foreigner tourists know every place in Pattaya you can or can not comment or touch a Thai woman?

I would bet if they had offered her 10k to go cut their pubes in the room, she would have accepted.

Stupid comment.

Hairdressers are not sex workers.

And even sex workers, you can't just feel them up and peak under their skirts. You need to make a financial arrangement and the woman has to actually agree to go with you. I am guessing even sex workers turn down some men for whatever reason. Then it would be sexual harassment if she says no.

Please re-read that comment. What kind of a man are you? Try that in Amsterdam, just because they have the red-light district. Maybe you think that if you find a convenient shop in New York on Pennsylvania Avenue, all women working inside are fair game just because it´s an area where most of the prostitutes sell their bodies?

Really? Do the right thing! Ask the moderators to delete you post, or forever be judged on it.

Very hard to believe a shop owner on beach road has never encountered drunk rude tourists. In fact many Pattaya hair dressers moonlight as freelancers. No one who works in Pattaya can claim to be an innocent little lamb - especially not on bitch road. She just figured out she has an opportunity to get more than an apology - this cannot be about her hurt feelings. Again- years on beach road witnessing all sorts of inappropriate behavior.

Not saying what they did wasn't wrong - it was - but pretending to be innocent and hurt by this just doesn't pass water.

Absolutely, normally Japanese Men and Women are the most polite of people.

Actually, many people would be surprised how much sexual harrassment Japanese women have to put up with in Japan, especially on the trains... hence the female only sections.

Well, guess it's good that it wasn't the bad old Brits this time.

My old neighbor had a very hairy back. I could not stand the guy. He was always out on his patio with no shirt on for some reason...
