Moving every 6 months

Featured Replies

I would choosed Hua Hin anytime above travelling every 3 or 6 months, and take holidays from Hua Hin when needed!

Even Jomtien, but last Christmas gave me Benidorm vibes, so maybe Ban Chang instead.

Definitely!

I'm forced to work like a slave

31 years service and living in a 21sqm apartment in the flybird condominium will see me end my days !!

Thankyou for your empathy

And if worse comes to the worse there are guys here who will look after me !!

Youve been regularly going off to the tropics for 6 week holidays , that's unaffordable for most people

Not sure what country your from....America ??

In Australia your employer must put an extra 12% of your salary into what is known as your Superannuation fund ,your pension fund ,you don't need to do this yourself , every Australian has a Super fund

You cannot access this until you permanently retire from work so it keeps accumulating

Unless they started work late ,every Australian should have a decent Superfund at age 60

The negative is ...if you have too much in your Superfund you will not be eligible for a old age pension at 67

So many choose to retire at 60 and spend it before 67 so they can get the old age pension at 67

Do any of you retired single expats move countries every year or so ?

As big Kev used to say ..."Im excited !!!

What a dream to say live.3 months in Siem reap...then Da Nang in Vietnam then Cebu in the Philippines, then Udon Thani

What a retirement dream !!

My retirement dream is to live in Thailand for 6 months then Cambodia then Vietnam then Bali ,then in the Philippines probably Palawan or islands

I know Simon on here moves every 3 months or so , I will probably move the same as him to live the excitement

Bali seems to be more popular for retirement,of course Vietnam is second popular followed by Duamagette Philippines

Do any of you nomads do this or do you just sit in your 21sqm rooms in Pattaya bring depressed

Of course if your married your stuck !

Life is moving guys ....

It is doable but you need to have a mindset for it. That's my life but I switch between Australia, SE Asia (mainly Thailand) and Europe, I have bases in all 3 locations. I like to be alone and this lifestyle suits me, I know roughly in which country I would be any month until 2030.

My intention was to buy a sailboat, cruise and live on it, but this was put on a backburner for the time being. Main reason for it was lack of physical exertion, the stuff I'm doing now requires to be in shape, that keeps me sharp and alive.

Have no idea how life is going to develop in later years, I'm in the early sixties. Plenty of options.

Why does it matter to you, Bob?

Why are you back in LA?

I have a business back here and it gives me a chance to visit with friends and do some things that I'm not able to do in Thailand, culturally speaking, so it's actually a nice change of pace.

But inevitably I can't wait to get on that plane to head back.

Tell her to bathe more often and that then you'll be game.

The good thing is that living in the West no need for visa runs, no need for Visa extensions

That can be accomplished easily in Thailand too.  Retirement Visa or better yet,  LTR-WP visa.  If you qualify.
