A 41-year-old agricultural officer was killed after his pickup truck crashed through a bridge railing and plunged into a river in Kanchanaburi. The man had just transferred from Ratchaburi to begin his new post and was traveling in the area for the first time.

Police from Luk Khae Station, rescue teams, and divers from the Khun Rattanawut Foundation responded to the incident at 21.00, on 22 October 2025. The crash occurred on the Tha Sao–Luk Khae Bridge in Moo 4, Don Khamin Subdistrict, Tha Maka District, following reports of a vehicle falling into the river below.

At the scene, officers found significant damage to the bridge railing, which had been struck with force. In the river beneath, a silver Toyota pickup truck with Bangkok registration platewas discovered about 10 meters from the bridge. Divers located the driver's body trapped inside the cabin within five minutes but were unable to extract him underwater.

The vehicle was secured with ropes and pulled to shore for inspection. The deceased was identified as Mr. Chaiporn Inphadung, aged 41, a senior agricultural academic under the Department of Agricultural Extension. Inside the cabin, officers found a black laptop bag and a bank book bearing his name.

Initial findings revealed that Mr. Chaiporn, originally from Sa Kaeo, had recently transferred from the Ratchaburi Regional Agricultural Office to assume a new position at the ASEAN Agricultural Youth Center in Nong Phang Tru, Tha Muang District. Tuesday marked his first day reporting for duty in Kanchanaburi.

Investigators believe Mr. Chaiporn was driving from Luk Khae toward Tha Sao when he lost control of his vehicle on the narrow bridge, struck the railing, and plunged into the river. The confined width of the bridge and poor lighting conditions are thought to have contributed to the accident.

Rescue workers transferred the body to Makarak Hospital for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. Police are conducting further inspections of the vehicle and the site to confirm whether road conditions or driver error were factors.
