Residents and tourists in Chiang Mai were startled on 23 October 2025 after discovering a naked man lying beside the city moat near Moon Muang Road Soi 8. Police and rescue workers were called to the scene following reports from concerned passersby. The incident drew public attention in the busy inner moat area of Mueang Chiang Mai District.

Officers from Mueang Chiang Mai Police Station arrived to find a man, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, lying unclothed on the ground near the Somphet Market area. Beside him was a bottle of alcoholic drink. Officials confirmed that the man was conscious and able to respond coherently during questioning.

Police and rescue personnel spent several minutes speaking with the man to calm him down and persuade him to put his clothes back on. Once he complied, officers escorted him away from the area to allow him to regain composure and prevent further public disturbance. The incident was handled without confrontation or injury.

Witnesses told police they had seen the same man wandering around the moat area regularly. Locals believe he may be homeless and using public spaces as a place to rest. The sight of the man in a vulnerable state prompted concern among both residents and visitors, many of whom stopped to observe or record the incident.

Authorities have since contacted relevant social welfare agencies to assess the man’s condition and provide appropriate assistance. Police stated that they would continue coordinating with local support networks to ensure the man receives help and that similar incidents are handled with sensitivity in future.

Key Takeaways

• A naked man was found lying near Chiang Mai’s inner moat, causing alarm among locals and tourists.

• Police confirmed the man was coherent and persuaded him to dress before taking him for assessment.

• Authorities suspect he is homeless and have referred the case to social welfare agencies for support.

Yeah, looking and recording, sounds very concerned. Would it not be better to try and help or notify police?

Where in the article does it imply that it was a farang opposed to a homeless person implying a Thai citizen as the case was referred to a welfare agency instead of immigration?

True, I think the long black hair might indicate it is a Thai bloke.

Ladyboy...is wearing a red bikini top.

What are you on about? I quoted what stood in the article. Of course, police eventually came. Just wonder how many that actually only looked or recorded before that. But, that was probably to hard for you to understand.

And where it's saying he's Thai? Can't find it. Can you show me?

Where did it say the naked guy was white.

Nearly every bench around the moat has a homeless Thai sleeping on it every night.

Where did it say the naked guy was tanned? Nowhere
