Trump’s $230M DOJ settlement bid likely has few legal backstops

Featured Replies

President Trump’s bid to be awarded as much as $230 million by his own Department of Justice as compensation for the various federal probes into his conduct would likely face few legal backstops if successful.

The president confirmed Tuesday that his personal legal team was seeking out a settlement, a request that could prompt his own appointees — among them his former defense attorneys — to make the determination of whether to pay up.

Maybe Trump is ashamedof getting gifts from from foreign governments. So now he's putting America first.

He expects to get paid for committing crimes?

Well, I guess it makes sense. He IS a professional criminal, and unlike amateurs, professionals get paid.

The precedent is he wants to compensate the terrorists who were convicted of for beating cops and sh!tting on the floor of the Capitol, as well as intending to hang the Vice President.

There was an interesting revelation over the weekend. On 6 January 2021, before Trump sent his terrorist brigade off to hang the VP, he had called Pence and told him to break the law and no certify the election, lest Pence be a "wimp". Pense told Trump, it's easy to break the law, but upholding the Constuution is my duty and the oath I took.

Apparently SC Smith got that detail from Pence and it was part of the criminal indictment, as it shows intent for Trump to break the law.

It's quite understandable why none of the cult wants Smith to testify in a public Hearing.

If there is anyone with a history of "perverted trolling jollies" it is you mate.

Plus not too far behind some recent additions - BLMFem, Harrisfan, MalcolmB, Gamma etc etc etc.

Read the Avatar mate - and get over it - only just over 3 more years to go - and then 8 for Vance.

No. They were hoaxes concocted by deranged leftists (ringing any bells?🤣) which destroyed any notion of a fair DOJ. Next time start with the crime, not an unhinged hatred of a mr squeaky clean then scramble to invent a crime.

Trump deserves billions in compensation for the lefts abominable behavior.

The most worrying thing about that nonsense is not whether or not you believe it, rather do you even care that its a string of falsehoods?

  • Popular Post

And the grift continues. The convicted criminal orders his own DOJ to pay him hundreds of millions of dollars.

Nothing to see here, move along!🤣

They don't. Very few of them matured past the "stick it to the libs" level of maturity.

The sole redeeming value I can see in Trump is that he gives losers something to fap over.

Enjoy your Big O, fella.

Harvard Law grad, are you?

I was unaware of your legal expertise.

Stealing classified documents, including HCS docs, and then lying about it, is okay in the MAGAstan Constitution?

Telling your VP to refuse to certify what Trump's own IT Czar called "the freest and fairest in history", and then fomenting an attack on the US Capitol is "concocted" in MAGAstan?

Telling the GA SecState to commit voter fraud by "just find me 11,280 votes" is kosher in MAGAstan?

It's the MAGAnistas who suffer from the "syndrome".

Show us a link to prove your claim if you can, it would interesting reading. Facts not opinion links please. Second, not that trump deserves any payment for defending his illegal actions but I dont believe he paid his legal fees in many of those case. They were paid from his war chest and campaign contributions.

From a legal perspective it is not unprecedented for the DOJ to pay to compensate those it has wronged and the DOJ has done so in the past.

There have been DOJ payouts to the victims of sex abuse and mass shootings whose murder or exploitation were attributable to mistakes by the government. So the question is was the prosecution of Trump a mistake by the previous administration, the results of the Russia hoax saga would indicate, that, yes, indeed, those were at least "mistakes", if not outright conspiracies by the Democrats to take down Trump.

So all Trump is really doing is preparing to sue the DOJ for damages. He's perfectly entitled to do so.

The question then will be, apart from did the DOJ make a mistake in going after Trump, was Trump in fact injured by the DOJ? And that is certainly the case.

If the victims of Nasser can get over 100 milllion, hard to see why Trump should not get compensation for the way he was treated, after all the Democrats did weaponize the DOJ without a shadow of the doubt.

In the MAGA alternate universe only! 🤣🤣🤣

Russia did try to interfere to help Trump, proven by all investigations including GOP led Senate Committee.

Trump did refuse to give back Presidential records to NARA, which led NARA to ask DOJ's help. Had Trump given back Presidential records, there would have been no investigation. Had Trump not hidden documents and lied about it, showing intent beyond reasonable doubt, there would have been no indictment.

Had Trump's fans not assaulted the Capitol, Trump not phoned to find him 11,700 votes, fake electors' lists not plotted  etc... there would have been no investigation into his attempts to overturn a legitimate election.

Actually, not investigating such obvious cases would have been negligence! 😅

Unlike Trump, Most Who Seek Money for Official Misconduct Face Long Odds
The Federal Tort Claims Act, the law the president invoked to try to obtain hundreds of millions of dollars, is ordinarily a legal labyrinth that few can navigate.

A 'hoax' and 'mistake' that led to:-

  • 12 Russian intelligence officers who were indicted by a federal grand jury accused of hacking the Clinton campaign and Democratic Party organizations as part of a Russian scheme to release emails damaging to Clinton during the 2016 race.
  • 13 Russians and three Russian companies were indicted in Mueller's investigation accused of taking part in an elaborate campaign to sow discord in the United States ahead of the 2016 election and harm Clinton's candidacy in order to boost Trump
  • Michael Flynn, Trump's national security adviser who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia during Trump's presidential transition.
  • Rick Gates, the former deputy chairman of Trump's campaign who pleaded guilty to conspiracy against the United States and lying to investigators.
  • Konstantin Kilimnik, a Manafort aide in Ukraine who was charged with tampering with witnesses about their past lobbying for Ukraine's former pro-Russian government.
  • George Papadopoulos the former Trump campaign adviser who was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian official.
  • Alex Van Der Zwaan who once worked closely with Manafort and Gates, Van Der Zwaan pleaded guilty to lying to Mueller's investigators about contacts with a Trump campaign official. Van Der Zwaan, the Dutch son-in-law of one of Russia's richest men, was sentenced to prison and fined $20,000.
  • Richard Pinedo who pleaded guilty to identity fraud in a case related to the Mueller investigation for helping Russian conspirators launder money, purchase Facebook ads and pay for supplies.

These are the facts that you so conveniently choose to ignore EVERY time you bring up the 'Russia hoax saga' and the facts I will keep reminding you of every time you do.

Proving yet again -- the most corrupt president in American history.

Sadly there are several on here that pick and choose the "facts" they will acknowledge and  which to ignore. It makes their belief system in Trump and his admin approach that much easier to follow. Truly brainwashed, completely ignorant of reality or have a lack of moral character as the idol they follow.

There are also a couple non Americans that post regularly as if they are American but refuse to admit they are not. While I support their right to have an opinion they don't have the right to imply by there posting they are Americans in order to promote their hidden agenda.

I don't understand why you are even concerned whether or not someone is an American. I care only for the quality of what they post.
