  • That is where you already made your first mistake, joining a Pattaya gym filled with big Russians and expecting it to be a civil experience. It is a bit like the mistake you made before when you compl

  • It's weird moving the bike, that's probably what he said in Russian, it's in a position set by staff, leave it there, maybe ask staff if it can be moved

  • Because they are weak men. Real tough guys don't get angry. The toughest guy in the room is the quiet one.

But you're not going to the Xmas party Susan because only real women will be allowed entrance. What a shame. I was so looking forward to seeing you there, until I heard this very saddening news.

What a drama queen !

just turn a bike for a bit better view out the window, and then turn it back, nobody is hurt or offended 😄

People are people, get over it, it is not a problem. Just like bringing the bench to a better spot for mirror, reach the heavy hantles, or away from someone who doing what they doing on the floor, and they are not using it.

Some people are bothered by small trivial things.

They usually have a bunch of other problems and the trivial thing is seen as a big deal. Kind of like the straw that breaks the camels back, or the person who goes off on a road rage for some small matter.

Anything that seems like it could be a rule is scrutinized because it implies loss of control over the environment. The person feels like things are not under control.

I think this is usually the case, rather then someone just being a jerk or trying to give me a hard time.

A fight nearly broke out.

One guy didn't put the plates back after his set.

Some do some don't.

Don't go to gyms, instead pull a bird and have daily horizontal rumba sessions. If you find yourself a hotty she will give you more than enough exercise.

Is it bad gym etiquette to move the bike while I'm using it if it's only a minor re-position and not in anyone's way, or are gym rules to not move any equipment from it's original position?

Well, first of all, I would not share any gym with a big Russian guy.

Here in Thailand, you never know when some Farang might fly off the handle.

Farang come from diverse cultures and a range of social strata.

Exercising with Farang, especially Russians, is too unpredictable for me.

Besides, I don't like to see Farang sweating.

I think exercising with Thai women is better and more motivating.

Also, Thai women are far more polite than big hairy Russian guys, of the type mentioned in the OP.

Do you go to gym or fitness Gamma?

I haven't seen one roid rage so far in Thailand. And I have been to many gyms all over the country, also quite a few bodybuilder gyms where they obviously was heavy juiced up.

The problem is that it's never really empty. There is always some dude there that is not great to be around. I actually do go at times of the day when there is less likely to be a lot of guys there.

There are always weirdos in gyms. Its been like that since I was in High School. Go in, work out, get out. Don't be that person looking at their phone, sitting on the equipment, not exercising. Or the bros comparing tatts & debating beard grooming products.

General Safety Tip;  don't talk to Russians or bros with those cube, lined in, tatts, on their neck.

Do you have any idea why there are always weirdo's in gyms?

If you walked into any room with loads of dudes you don't know and then need to share space that can only be occupied for a certain amount of time before moving to another temporary spot, you will have some weird encounters.   It is amazing how for the most part there aren't major altercation IMO.

Covid ended my 30 year streak of going to gyms.  Built a home workout room but miss the gym at times.

Also keep your back clear in these gyms all over as many are deep into sterioids and other substances to enhance muscular build but totally nimbles their brains and sensible judgement. In fact I keep good distance with those tatooes bodybuilt wierdos with bizarre haircuts.

Return your stationary bike to the original spot and tell the big irritated Russian to make his way to the Donbas trenches where his irritable energy is needed

No idea. They should make a documentary on it, they make them on everything else. I should state that at my current gym, we have a good morning crew. Still that is the 7AM group. once you get past 830, likely that is when the riffraff arrive.

I think it's because one can usually move away from weirdo's in daily life, so they are not noticed as much. In a gym, there is nowhere to hide and it's usually a small space where the equipment is setup.

Arnold had a good scene in 'Pumping Iron' but I think the particular gym he utilized was used mostly by professional level athletes (although it was a public gym), or at least those that used it were smart enough to not cause problems.
