Obtain Non O marriage in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi all, a friend is returning to Khon Kaen in about 1 week and is cashless. I don't think he can get married visa in Laos without money these days, can someone tell me so I can pass it on please. My thought is he need to visit an agent here

OP, your post is not clear.

What does cashless refer to.. Assume you mean no money in bank for eVisa application.

"Married Visa"?

So his plan is to obtain a Non O marriage?

Yes he needs money in bank.

Agent won't be involved with Non O marriage extensions.

How old is he?

Does he have a Thai bank account?

You're correct, he is coming with only a few hundred thousand baht, he will have cash once his house is sold. He does have a Thai bank account. I suppose he will have to pay an agent for visa and first extension then can swap himself for reason on next extension. thanks for your reply

Even for a 90 day Non-O you need 400,000bht in the bank, plus it is all done online from outside Thailand. Printed off three months bank statements, but only need 400,000bht in the bank on the day of application. All the info must be uploaded to the immigration portal.

There is no interaction with the consulate staff except paying 2000bht at the desk by anyone.

You must wait for an email and print it off to go and pay the 2000bht.

It is very complicated for the first time...........😒

You mention will have money in the future.

Suggest for the time being he just stay in Thailand on visa exempt 60 day entries + he could obtain 60 day extension to visit Thai wife.

He can obtain the Non O at local immigration office in the future.

That would require 400k in Thai bank. No seasoning required.

After that he could obtain 12 month extension after funds in bank for 2 months.

The Non O will give him a 90 day stamp.

Process to obtain Non O outlined in this attached thread:

Using agent not best option for two reasons. They won't help regards financial requirements and even if he was 50+ a Non O retirement with agent would be difficult to change to DIY extensions based on marriage in future..

There are "fixers" at the Thai consulates in Laos, but not sure they can "fix" the 400K requirement.  I have seen no reports of such - just offers of faster-processing.  If he can show that much in any account - even a foreign-account - he is set for that 90-day visa.  But, for the extensions ...

Marriage-based agent-help in Thailand is reported over 100K baht "fee," now, due to district-level sign-off on those.

Is he 50+?  Retirement-based extensions are much less expensive via agent (~15K Baht).

He can also use agents to do back-to-back border-bounces for visa-exempt entries - by land or air - until his house sells.

No agent in Laos can assist with financials for Non O eVisa.

That will not be an option and the guy currently does not have available funds.

I asked about age in my first post.

For agent to obtain Non O in Thailand + 12 month extension currently the cost is way more than previously. He would need budget to 50k +

Also stated that friends intention is to do DIY extensions.

He would need start over if uses an agent. Not good option

Thats an option and suggested earlier along with 60 day extension to visit Thai wife.
