So, you'll have to apply for a 30 day extension (1,900 BHT) at Nakhon Sawan Immigration.

I believe it’s not a 30-day extension but a 60-day one for visiting my Thai spouse (I’ve done it many times over the past 11 years).

And it’s not Nakhon Sawan, it’s Sakon Nakhon 🙂

Silly question, but have you filed a TM30 at Nakhon Sawan.

Yes, of course.

  • For some reason it didn't work for me. I reload few times and impossible to type anything there. Anyway I passed, the officer was nice and enter my address.  Got my visa yeaaah

  • It's a two step process.  1. You obtain a Non O in Thailand from your visa exempt or tourist visa entry. OR ... You obtain the Non O outside of Thailand using eVisa platform.  2. The Non O p

Apologies, it's an age related issue!

It's just easier to apply for the 30-day extension, as that's all you'll need, less documentation, and the wife doesn't need to attend, but your prerogative to choose.

Thank you very much for the consultation. You really helped me build a solid strategy and avoid mistakes in the future.

The application process is online now, payment at the consulate in Savannakhet or Embassy in VT.

Does anyone know how much for Cat O 90 day marriage visa? Need to have crisp notes - just like the Dollars for VOA.

Cheers.

Unless you register an overseas marriage at an Amphoe, you won't be able to apply for a 1 year extension based on Thai spouse at Immigration offices.

So we got trapped between two opposing policies. MFA will only stamp one time and it specifically states "Valid for perpetuity". The local Amphoe want a fresh stamp, 30 or 90 days. So it looks like Mrs. DSB needs to head to HK to start from scratch!

Thanks for the heads-up. I am assuming that I can enter on 90 days, get the Amphoe papers soon after, and then submit with a buffer before the 90 days expires. Do I have to submit at least 30 days in advance?

No.  Some places maximum 30 days, some 45.  No minimum but wise to do it a week or 3 ahead in case of any issues, it wont make any difference to the extension date.

Thailand doesn't accept the legitimism of foreign documents in their original format, therefore they have to go through a legalised procedure to be recognised as authentic and genuine.

This usually starts with obtaining a certified copy of your marriage certificate by a notary, then authenticated by the relevant state department then relevant Thai Embassy.
On entry to Thailand, obtain a certified copy of your passport data page from your Embassy.
The authenticated marriage certificate and the certified copy of passport should then be translated into Thai, then legalised by the MFA.

These are then presented to an Amphoe to register the overseas marriage in Thailand.

Hi everyone,

I plan to go to Vientiane on 26 November to get non O visa single entry based on marriage, I have 400k seasoned for 3 months already, I'm currently on visit my wife after tourist (visa exempt),  I would like to check if I understand well the requirements.

- Application form

- 400 k seasoned for 3 months, update of the book bank or bank statement? how recent it has to be? few days?

- Ko Ro 2 & 3 original for 3 and update copy from Amphoe for 2?

- Passport with Laos visa page

- Wife signed ID card

- Wife's tabien ban

- Passport sized photos

Is there anything else? do I need pictures of the family in every room of the house?

Regarding the E-visa, is it possible to apply before or do I have to wait to get the Laos visa to prove I'm in Laos?

Once the visa application has been approved, they contact you by email and then you pay and give your passport? do you have to wait again or they do the visa immediately?

The exact requirements should be on the embassy website, as each embassy sets their own requirements.

Photos are part of an extension application inside of Thailand with immigration.  Not part of a visa application at an embassy.

You can fill out the entire e-visa application before you go to Laos, but you cannot submit the application until you enter Laos as you need to submit your entry stamp from your passport as "proof of location"

What happens after you submit the application is applicable only to Laos, as they're the only Thai embassy (along with Myanmar) that still require you to pay in person.  Everything else is done online.
After you submit the application you'll receive an e-mail confirmation that you need to print out and take to the embassy in the morning (8-11AM I believe) on a business day (so no weekends or holidays) to pay for your visa application.  That's the last step.  After that it's just waiting for your visa to be issued.  Once issued it will come as a pdf you'll receive in your e-mail.  Print the PDF and hand it over with your passport to enter Thailand.

A non-O is usually processed in 2-3 business days, but there are reports of shorter and longer waits.

I just filled the e-visa and there is no application form required (I suppose that the application is the online process) and you can't submit multiple documents. I don't see where to submit the Tabien Ban ( I thought it was required)

They don't seem to require the same things than on the requirement list of Vientiane Thai embassy.

Regarding the Document indicating current location, is that the Laos visa? or just a map of the hotel?

I don't see where to submit the Laos visa page

You must use an app to convert all the things asked for into one file, yes, I had to learn to do it too. Download a free app.

Plus, you must do it, if not, you will be rejected.....

It took me a week to sort it out, you cannot apply in Thailand, you send it all off when you are actually in LOS. My proof was my hotel booking and my passport Laos entry stamp page, together in one photo, plus Laos evisa copy....

You cannot go to the consulate to sort it, you have no contact with the consulate except after you get an email telling you to go there and pay the 2000bht, anyone can go and pay it with the printed off email...Yes, you must print it off....😬

The instructions to fill in the form are on the website..

I think this was the best of the merging bunch to use....

Thank you so much for this answer, I would have learn the hard way otherwise. I scanned all the documents, I don't have time to merge the files with the computer at home so I will do it on the way to Laos, 13 hours in bus should be enough time.

If you get rejected do they inform you by email and mention which documents are missing?

Also I received the 400 k on 26 August, so 3 months will be tomorrow but I made the statement today, one letter to say I have 400k right now and another document that show when the money was received.

Regarding the proof of current location, I found this on Google, do they mean the location in Laos or where living in Thailand? What do they want exactly?

They want your proof that you are in Laos.  Entry stamp.

Ok one more.thing cleared, thank you. About the 400 k, my statement is from 26 Aug to 25 November, is that ok or should I make another statement tomorrow morning?

Immigration in Ratchaburi told us that I have to show one day only for the single entry initial visa and 2 months for the extension.

I'd take a chance on being one day short.  If they have a problem they will tell you and you'll have the chance to send a new statement.  But I really don't think it will be a problem.  Having said that making a new statement in the morning will take about a minute.  Do you feel lucky?

Thank you for your answer, well said, I found a kasikorn bank near the border on the map, and I need to exchange bahts to dollars. Relying on luck is very stressful for me, I prefer to maximize my chances. The whole process stress me but apparently others went through it without any pain.

You have the Kasikorn app?  You can download a new statement from that in seconds.  But I really think it's not needed.  Same as THB to USD, there are exchange places on both sides of the border, you could get your USD without going to Kasikorn.  But whatever you need to do to relieve your stress.

The good news is that tomorrow night you can enjoy a nice evening in Vientiane with perfect Beer Lao and great food and wonder why you live in Thailand.

😄 Thank you for the encouraging words,  good reasons are my wife, my 4 kids and dogs but why not enjoying Vientiane.

That is, if you were applying for the Non O at an Immigration office.

That's not what they said but doesn't matter now, I guess they don't always catch up with the regular updates.

I'm currently in Laos, they didn't wanted let me enter without proving that I was coming to make a non O. It was a bit stressful but everything ok so far.

Now I'm applying and realized that they let my old passport number on my Kor ror 2 updated, so my wife is going to the Amphoe to rectify this and send me the picture.

Ok I found another thread on ASEAN now that say it's not needed.

So I'm going to finalize the application. I still have few doubts:

- Should every pages of the passport merge into one?

-For the location, is hotel ticket + Laos visa page enough

- is tabien ban required to be attached to wife ID (I did it in case) passport I suppose is if there is no ID but I don't see how a Thai national would not have ID unless family include non Thai resident, maybe different options

-Marriage certificate, kor ror 3 with new passport, apparently not necessary and maybe not possible to change.

- Does it matter if the documents are scans or pictures.

- About the bus number, is that the big number written on the bus? Or the bus ticket?

General note, any multipage document or in case of multiple documents, you will have to merge into a single file.  Easy to do this with .pdf documents, keep an eye on the document size, I think the maximum is 3MB.

- You don't need every page, just the photo page.

- Location can be only the visa/entry stamp, but no harm adding a hotel document if you have one

- Wife/marriage related documents.....can't help but sounds like you're on track

- PDF or JPG?  I'd go for .pdf as easy to merge if needed and smaller in size.  I think your passport biopage and your photo can only be .jpg.

- Bus number - I am totally sure this is not important if you don't already know it.  "UNKNOWN" would be my entry.

The documents on the e-visa site are the global requirements, if Vientiane want anything different they will email you I am certain.
