If you intend to make Thailand you're home, it's impolite and inexcusable not to learn the language.

And if you write in English, it is imperative that you spell correctly....................YOUR home

I say it's impolite and inexcusable not to learn Thai if you intend to make Thailand your home.   Not simply to make deeper connections with a Thai lady, it's important for all sections of T

Nee Nah Nee Nah, the spelling police are here.

Shouldn’t you finish your sentence with a period?

Yep, got me there, but period isn't due until next week. Unless you are referring to a Full Stop (in English)?

Are you not Punctuation Police, my spelling is OK, just the dot missing.

Your cooment in my opinion is Ok but perhaps a bit too strong.

Learning any language is also a personal choice.

As Eric Morecambe almost once said "I'm using all the right letters and punctuation but not necessarily in the right order". You've got more than enough full stops (periods? No, too messy!) in there.

Yes, that was intentional, I wanted to provoke a reaction.

I was thinking of Bradford in the UK where I used to work.  It's a lot like Pattaya in so far as it has a huge Asian community that doesn't try to learn English or integrate.

The difference seems to be that in Pattaya the foreigners pay to have sex with the local community whereas the Aisian community in towns like Bradford groom & rape the local girls instead.

Did he not say that when playing piano for Andre Previn? "I am playing all the right notes, but not in the right order".

A bit like a retard.

I don't agree at all.

On one hand maybe you have allowed your wife to create a quite strong scenario whereby the local do thing as you have mentioned.

On the other hand quite the opposite.  I speak / understand quite good Thai, but I sometimes don't engage in the Thai conversation becaue I now that theres some background / complex background / negative background which I don't understand so I choose to remain quiet.

I don't believe that many Thais belive that foreigners are the 'village idiots' and I suggest you rethink your comment.

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice. Much appreciated. Now time to learn a few words in sentences, like... what, when, where, why, whom, how and how much.  Hmm... how do I say that in Thai.

The answer is stop being lazy and enrol in a Thai course. And as mentioned many times before learning to read and write Thai as part of the course is well worthwhile.

You ask for some to tell you... words in sentences, like... what, when, where, why, whom, how and how much.  Hmm... how do I say that in Thai. Nobody is going to answer all of that, as above you're just lazy, get off your sad ass ...

Actually,  I missed quoted what I wanted to print. I'm learning that now. And adding the question and answers to the above. I think using that method is helping me retain the learning process of speaking Thai.  And as always, thank you for your reply.
