The search for a missing three-year-old boy in Rayong province ended in tragedy, when rescuers found his body floating in a pond. The child, identified as Ekkarin “Nava”, had disappeared from his home the previous day, prompting a large-scale search by police, rescue teams, and local residents. His family was devastated as they watched officers recover his body after hours of desperate searching.

According to police reports, the incident began on the evening of 5 November 2025 when Pol Lt Worathat Ruangrit, deputy inspector of Pluak Daeng Police Station, was alerted to a suspected drowning in a pond in Soi Khod Klang 8, Rayong. Divers from the Sawang Porakunsol Rayong rescue foundation joined the search after villagers spotted small footprints alongside a dog’s near the pond’s edge. Despite an intensive 45-minute effort, the search was called off for the night due to poor visibility and no signs of the missing child.

Nava’s mother, Ms. Pranee, 43, told investigators through tears that her son had gone to play at a nearby relative’s house around 08:30 as usual. He was last seen running outside before vanishing. At first, she believed her partner had taken the boy, but when he confirmed he had not, panic set in and the family launched a frantic search. Witnesses later claimed to have seen a young child on a motorcycle sidecar with an unidentified man, raising fears of possible abduction and prompting police involvement.

The following morning, 6 November, rescue teams resumed their search and discovered the boy’s body floating in the same pond. The finding left family members inconsolable and the local community deeply saddened. Authorities believe the child may have accidentally fallen into the water while playing nearby. His body has been sent to Rayong Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death.

Police confirmed that a full investigation will continue to clarify the circumstances and rule out any foul play. Officers said they would review witness statements and local CCTV footage to ensure all possibilities are examined. The incident has renewed local concern over child safety and supervision in rural communities near open water sources.
