I suppose we have a different definition of poor people. Poor people don't eat out at restaurants and have a hard time finding affordable food in markets and grocery stores. Perhaps you mean low-income people. Certainly, in Thailand, low-income people cannot afford to eat at McDonald's.

If McD is losing customers, then what about 5-GUYS Burgers?

No doubt, 5-Guys has far more dedicated clientele.

Seems that the satisfaction with 5-Guys just continues to balloon.

I am interested in trying this huge meal.

Where can I get one in Chiang Mai?

Also, I might need someone like this girl to show me how to eat it without spilling even one scrumptious morsel.

Go Girl...!!!

You are making Oprah proud.

One of the significant features of the McDonald's menu is that you can eat the burgers with one hand while you're driving.

I would call that a tiny burger, but yes, some of the latest creations would be better eaten with 2 hands.

It's all relative, (USA) as remember burger, fries & drink, $.99, ... but ... minimum wage was also about $1 an hour.

Now, a burger, fries & drink cost ??? $10-$15, and minimum wage, also $10-$15, location dependent, so not much has changed in USA

I done the maffs in a prior post.

From '74 until now, minimum wage up 350%, price of a Big Mac up >700%.

Well, McD's does have A/C and toilets, a place to wash ones hands, the staff are trained in cleanliness, and I reckon food poisoning is at zero..You get what you pay for....🤗

I was mistaken, minimum wage 1973 was $1.60, and that's what people were paid.  I had $1 on my brain, as that's what restaurants paid (15 yrs old), but we got tips, or share of.   1973, last year of high school, (18 yrs old) worked at Hess filling station, so I probably got $1.60.  A year later, and I was working in steel mill, getting $4 an hour, and considered excellent pay.  A slight step up from first job out of HS, at Lithographic publishing company, $3.75 an hour.  Again, excellent pay back then for just a HS grad.  Considering 2-2.5% minimum wage, where today, that would be ~$30 an hour.   Good luck getting that without a degree, or trade union job.

Now, Fed min wage is $7.25, but nobody works for that, and McD's pays $15 an hour, more in larger metros.  I doubt if anyone works for less than $10 an hour now in USA.  Most $15 & up, knowing McD's pays that, w/ health bennies.

Big Mac was ~$.65 back then, and now $5.25 - $5.75, so about the same % increase of wages & Big Mac, location dependent.  Actually wages a bit more, though surely offset by housing increases.

Split the difference $10 & $15 salary, from $1.60, and it's about 800% ($12.80)

$.65 X 800% = $5.20, so not far off from each other.

I travel throughout the US yearly and these fast food joints is hardly ever a consideration. BK runs deals on jr whopper which is a tasty treat while on the road, traveling but that's about it. Would rather go to a Vietnamese Pho joint or a japanese place. Sometimes a Mexican joint, maybe a taco wagon.

I forgot that In n Out is still a pretty good deal for $10.00

If I want a burger in Thailand it's Prime Burger.

Yes, but you still need a bib, unless you turn on Tesla's FSD.
