Grab - new "rewards" which have limited use

Featured Replies

In their continuing strategy of destroying what was a model for business developed by Uber, before Grab bought Uber Thailand, the new "rewards" programme they have introduced, called "coins" (or "cons"?) has very limited use for redemption. Previous rewards could be used for a 10-15% discount on transport usage. Now only a few of these available and immediately sold out. Beginning to realise the transport side of Grab is a failing business, or certainly not one they want to encourage their members to use.

In the past year or so, I have found Bolt to be better in almost every aspect on ride business. Always cheaper and usually about the same arrival times. My only complaint is that they do not add Tolls into the bill, which always made it easier for my business expenses but, I still prefer Bolt.

Yes, I've used Bolt a couple of times and they seem ok, but usual variation in driver/vehicle quality, (as in Grab). What is the equivalent of "Grab Car Premium"? I seemed to order the wrong one, "Priority", which I mistook as the equivalent. Is it "Comfort" or "XL"? I basically want a sedan, like a Toyota Camry.

My wife regularly uses both Grab and Bolt. Bolt used to be cheaper until Grab introduced the Saver car, now that’s around a 30% saving on Bolt.

However, the Grab wait is often much longer and their drivers have a tendency to cancel the rides frequently, some after even showing they’ve arrived!! That’s the most irritating thing about both apps is that drivers seem to be able to cancel several minutes after accepting the ride without any comeback. You can’t leave a 1 star rating for that.

Her last two ride from our Condo were both cancelled 3 times.

Yes, I have repeat cancellations from Grab, when it's busy.

If you/your wife know what the Bolt equivalent of Grab Car Premium is, I'd welcome knowing. Thanks.

Isn’t it Bolt Premium? Usually more than double the price of Basic Bolt and more than 10% dearer than Grab Premium.

They have "Comfort" & "XL", but nothing labelled "Premium". Anyway, I'll give it a whirl tomorrow, as Grab are becoming imbecilic in their responses.

They do not seem to understand what their transport product is, or how the app works, or that they've changed the terms.

That’s interesting, you appear to be getting different options to my wife and I. We get a premium option when booking.

Premium is not offered in central Bangkok according to their Support AI.

Problem is found with GRAB is sometimes a TAXI turned up especially in Bangkok

The taxi driver started telling me that the 128 baht is not enough ,well why take the job ?

This is Grab right? Is this the one for Bangkok? I use it in Cambodia ass well as Pass App. I have Bolt and YandexGo too as well as Lyft. What do the points save ? 10 baht?

Only if you book the option that includes a taxi.

After much toing and froing, including copying my email to Support to Grab's CEO in Singapore, I received a call from someone in Thailand, who explained how the system had been changed and how it works, so have happily been using redemption "coins" on Transport. They changed the system, but didn't inform anyone how to use it.
