Authorities in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, raided a well-known cockfighting venue on 21 November, arresting 98 people allegedly involved in illegal gambling. Officials found more than 100 participants cheering around the pit when the operation began, alongside a large number of parked vehicles. The raid brought the event to an abrupt halt as suspects attempted to flee.

The action followed an order by Bang Lamung District Chief Patcharapatch Sritanyanont, who instructed Deputy District Chief Natthawat Sophonsawatsilp to coordinate with district officers and Nong Prue Police. The team targeted a cockfighting training ground belonging to the Thung Klom Club, located in Soi Thung Klom Tanman 20, Moo 14, Nong Prue subdistrict. Officers seized two fighting cocks, a cockfighting ring, cash collection cans and betting ledgers.

The operation was prompted by intelligence reports indicating that illegal cockfighting and gambling were taking place at the site. When officers arrived, they saw more than 100 cars and motorcycles lined up, confirming significant activity inside. As police and administrative officers moved in, gamblers attempted to escape in multiple directions, but the area had already been secured, allowing officers to detain nearly all the participants, stopping 81 men and 17 women.

The Daily News reported that investigators took all 98 detainees, together with the seized items and the venue operator, to Nong Prue Police Station for legal processing. Charges related to illegal gambling and operating an unlawful cockfighting venue are expected to proceed under standard judicial procedures. Officials have not yet provided further details on follow-up enforcement or additional suspects.

Key Takeaways

• A coordinated raid in Bang Lamung shut down an illegal cockfighting and gambling venue, detaining 98 people.

• Officers seized fighting cocks, betting tools and documents after receiving intelligence about the operation.

• All detainees and the venue operator were taken to Nong Prue Police Station for legal action.

Cockfighting training ground?

Ladyboys at it again.!

These guys love their cocks, spend hours grooming them and maintaining their shape.

Why not let them duke it out in the ring till one is spent?

It's not real harmful gambling like sports betting.

No harm no fowl.

Obviously the brown envelope wasn't paid to the cops, who know it goes on, and has been for years...:coffee1:

Used to live 3 or 4 houses down from a guy who kept fighting cocks. What a pain in the arsX that was.

About time

This happens each and every day across Thailand. Same as cards. It's everywhere.

How can it be a cock fight if all the guys have their trousers on?

Fake news.

You must be joking, or just stupid!

Not going to happen where I'm at for at least another decade.  Seems like every other house is raising cocks.

They had a huge event last year with 10 to 15 year old children fighting in a ring. It was savage and so much money was being wagered on each fight.  The kids looked like they were having fun and some of them got pummelled.  Strange but the locals outside of the nearby tourist town still are doing things that I thought were not happening anymore here in Thailand.

Is cock fighting actually illegal, or is it just the betting that is?

It is harmful. Cruelty isn't much of a concern to you is it?

The gambling  is also associated with money laundering.

It's legal and even gambling is legal with  government permits.  I would quess 0% of rural thailand venues have the permits.    THe cocks are expensive and a person living 500 meters from me claimed my dog killed one of his cocks.  He wanted 50K baht.  Told him no because it wasn't my dog and the village head backed me.  I have no friends here but a growing list of enemies 🙂
