A passenger transport pick-up collided with a crane on 22 November 2025, in Chonburi, leaving five of the 12 passengers injured. The crash occurred on the Ban Bueng–Chonburi road near Soi Bansuan–Setthakit 30, Nong Ri subdistrict, Muang district. Emergency responders from Thammarat Foundation provided first aid before transporting the injured to Chonburi Hospital.

The pickup, a red Isuzu, was carrying workers from Bang Sai to a toy factory. The driver reported traveling in the left lane at a moderate speed and following motorcycles when the van’s roof struck the front of the crane, causing significant damage. The collision resulted in injuries to five passengers due to impact from the roof.

The crane driver, Mr Phuwasit, stated he was slowly exiting the side street with other vehicles giving way. He observed a few motorcycles passing and then the van followed, attempting to pass before hitting the crane’s boom. All other vehicles had stopped, leaving the passenger van as the only vehicle to collide with the crane.

Khoasod reported that authorities plan to review CCTV footage from the area and summon both drivers for further questioning. Investigations will determine liability and any legal consequences for the crash.

Yes hard to spot a large yellow crane, but IMO as an ex crane technician (ask mechanic) the jib should be carried over the cab, not behind..

The picture with the story clearly shows the jib is correctly over the cab.

Opps my bad I'm off to spec save, still no excuse for not seeing it.

Don't most countries with traffic laws require a red flag or something similar hanging down to warn others if you have something hanging far off the back... something like this crane? I know... I ask too much 🙂

The picture does not show the end of the jib, so we don't know if it actually had a red flag on the end.

While I agree, but as it was pointed it was hanging over the front, but IMO should have had a red flag and a flashing orange light on the cab.

It certainly sounds like reckless driving to me as the driver must have seen the other vehicles stopped and just decided to pull an aggressive "let me get through it all costs" kind of move.

One must always keep an eye open here, and cranes, trees, telephone poles and other stationary objects are to be avoided at all costs.
