Exact docs for marriage visa 1 year extension in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This site has helped me out a lot over the years so figured I'd share some info since I'm in kind of a unique position here.

Went to Immigration in Building B at Chaeng Wattana last month to file my Non. Imm. O visa extension for 12 months based on marriage. Had all my ducks in a row except for one thing -- I forgot the application can only be filed less than 45 days before expiration. We got pretty far through the process with one IO checking all docs, giving us a couple of forms that we didn't have to fill out, and then arranging everything in the precise order they're needed before handing us off to another IO who realised we were there too early. So I was able to take the application precisely as the IO's wanted it back home, where I wrote down the exact docs and order for next year.

Note that they only wanted one copy of everything (obv. different Immigration offices have slightly different requirements, this is specific for Bangkok Immigration as of Nov. 2025). For all copies black and white is fine except bank letter which has to be the original...

Include all of the following in precisely this order:

•    TM.7 - Appl. for ext. of temp. stay w/ head photo glued on
•    STM.10 - Affidavit of family relationship to Thai national filled out by Thai spouse
•    STM.11 - Consent form for fact-checking and information verification of application for visa or change of visa type or extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom
•    STM.2 - Acknowledgement of criteria and conditions for permit of temporary stay in the Kingdom of Thailand
•    STM.9 - Acknowledgement of penalties for visa overstay
•    Copy passport ID page
•    Copy passport last entry stamp page
•    Copy Thai E-Visa
•    Copy TDAC front and back on 1 sheet
•    Original letter from bank stating balance (must include name of applicant)
•    Copy book bank front account number page
•    Copy book bank transactions page going back 2 months showing 1 transaction on day of application (if using a new book bank copy front account number page and transactions page going back 2 months, or submit last 2 months of bank statements)
•    Copy spouse's Thai National ID card front and back on 1 sheet
•    Copy spouse's house book (tabian baan)
•    Copy spouse's name change confirmation form (if applicable)
•    Copy Khor Ror 3 marriage cert. all pages
•    Copy Khor Ror 2 marriage reg. front and back on 1 sheet (*MUST BE STAMPED BY LOCAL DISTRICT / AMPHOE OFFICE WITHIN 30 DAYS OF APPLICATION DATE)
•    4 color photos showing couple at residence (on 2 pages showing couple in front of address number, front of house, in bedroom, in dining area)
•    Hand drawn map of house location
•    Copy TM.30 showing current residence address
•    Copy rental lease agreement (including  copies of ID cards signed by all signees + landlord's tabian baan of rental property and landlord's own residence + rental property ownership documents) *Note: obv. different docs required if you own your own home or condo.
•    Copies of both marriage witnesses' ID cards front only

I am sure many people will thank you for the post and list. BUT the requirements that you listed are really unbelievable just for a 12 mths extension, then of course all the same docs 12 mths later. It's like a list from hell.

Thanks for taking time to post that comprehensive list of what's required.

Bummer you showed up before your "window of opportunity" (when you had 45 days or less left on your current stamp)

Thanks a good detailed post of what is now required.

My only question is about : Copies of both marriage witnesses' ID cards front only

Does this mean witnesses from when you got married, or witnesses who know you where you reside?

I was married twenty years back in Amphur Don Mueang and cannot remember if we had a witness .......

Based on recent reports, they'll pretty much accept any ID card. Doesn't matter who it is.

I don't think this item is mandatory as I did my annual marriage Non O renewal last week at CW, and it was not requested.

Couple of minor corrections to my original post here after completing the marriage visa extension application today at Chaeng Wattana.

Other comments are right about probably not needing the copies of two marriage witnesses' ID cards. I stuck them in with our marriage docs and it seems the first IO who checked our docs thought those ID copies had something to do with our house rental contract, which is why they ended up at the very end of the paperwork with the rental lease. But today the IO was wondering why they were there when the names didn't match any of the house docs. She did keep them with the rest of the paperwork so I'd include them if you have them, but probably not necessary.

Also regarding my statement that the khor ror 2 marriage registration has to be certified by the local amphoe office at least 30 days before applying for the extension, this was a miscommunication between my wife and I (imagine that). She was told by the amphoe office staff that the doc was valid for 30 days, but I thought the IO's at Chaeng Wattana told her that. Today was 3 weeks after the first certification and we could have brought that one and tried it, but everything I've read online says it needs to have been certified within the last 7 days, so we swung by the amphoe office after the bank on the way to CW.

Only other thing I left out in my initial post is that spouse definitely has to go with you to apply.

It's a once a year dog & pony show.  Mine coming up next month. You'd think they would ease up after 20 years of marriage to the same Thai women.  Hell, a farang women gets citizenship after three years if she wants it.  All I'd like is an acknowledgment from Thai Immigration that after being married to a Thai woman and living in the country for two decade, that perhaps just perhaps, I'm not trying to game the system with a "fake marriage" and maybe the annual reams of paper isn't necessary.  How about residency?
Well, put wishes 🧚‍♀️ in one hand and kee Ox 🐂 💩in the other, guess which will fill up first?

A signed copy of the ID card of the witness who signs the new STM10 form is required............ that's what I took it for.

Never needed witnesses when we married.
