Non B (BOI) extension Bangkok to Marriage in Surat Thani

Featured Replies

Contract from Bangkok company ends by end of this year and will move to Wife and kid in Surat Thani on Dec-25. As one needs quite a bit of paperwork for extension base on marriage, I was thinking to get a 60-day visiting family in Surat Thani immigration first and then extend to base on marriage.

I will have 400k in the bank in my name only before the year ends. Does anyone see a problem with this plan? Don't want to leave the country if not needed.

Not eager to switch to retirement as I might do some other work later next year.

Shouldn't be a problem, but remember most BOI company employees get up to 21 days once their extension of stay is canceled.

You may not need to get that 60-day visit Thai family extension and instead get down to Surat Thani, get the hand out of documentation required for a yearly extension based on marriage from them, meet the requirements and apply before your cancellation of extension stamp runs out.

If you have the funds already in the account and it will be seasoned the 2 months required by the time you would apply it's only documentation that you need and you should be able to round that up within the time your cancellation stamp is valid for

If you are going from a BOI position they will ask for a non-standard document "Notification of aliens leaving their positions" it is issued by the BOI themselves when you end the BOI visa/extension but normal immigration will require you to have a copy.

From memory it is not required for 60 day visit extension but definitely required for the 1 year marriage extension.

You could always apply for the yearly extension and if missing anything important just revert to the 60 day one.

One other consideration is if you want your renewal and under consideration period to be in December yearly going forward.
